Jumieka Grand Restaurant – A Must-Try for Oxtail Lovers!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jumieka Grand Restaurant, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, but the real star of the night was the food.

I ordered the oxtails with Jamaican rice and peas, and it was nothing short of perfection. The oxtails were tender, juicy, and packed with rich, deep flavor—you could tell they were slow-cooked to absolute perfection. Each bite melted in my mouth, with just the right balance of seasoning and spice.

And then there’s the rice and peas—hands down some of the best I’ve ever had! The rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy yet hearty, and infused with that authentic coconut and thyme flavor that ties everything together beautifully. Every forkful was pure comfort.

Beyond the food, the service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican cuisine, especially oxtails done right, Jumieka Grand is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back!

I've been eagerly anticipating the opening of Jumieka NYC, a delightful Jamaican restaurant, for months! My trips to Jamaica as a child left me with a craving for authentic Jamaican cuisine, which I've missed deeply. When I moved back to NYC, I was lucky enough to work with a Jamaican colleague who introduced me to the wonders of fried fish from a local food truck—it was a revelation! Since then, I've been on the lookout for Jamaican flavors right here in my neighborhood. The variety, the rich history, and the sheer joy that Jamaican food brings is something I've longed to experience again.

The moment I saw Jumieka NYC was open, I couldn't resist; I went straight in with my son and a friend. We dove into their Curry Goat served with rice and peas, and it was absolutely sublime—the gravy was to die for! My son tried his first curry goat there and was instantly hooked. We left already planning our next visit. Jumieka NYC is a fantastic addition to our community, and I'm thrilled to have a taste of Jamaica so close to home. Too bad you can only give 5 stars as this newly opened spot deserves so much more. First off you’re greeted by Kemisha’s radiant smile that lets you know the rest of your experience will be just simply spectacular! Jumieka is a whole vibe!

This location is walking distance from my office I. The heart of midtown just blocks away from Grand Central. The veggie roti is just scrumptious seasoned perfectly with curry chick peas, crisp green beans and carrot and potatoes topped off with some ripe plaintain. The ginger beer reminds me of how my Grandmother used to make it. They have a diverse menu with lots of amazing choices so as they say back home, no worries, tek it easy 🇯🇲

Upstairs is an amazing oasis for larger group sizes or you can lounge by the bar and catch the latest NFL or NBA game.
