Luna La Mer — Restaurant in New York

Just woah. I’m not one to write reviews, but this sandwich was so good that I felt like I needed to publicly communicate about this incredible culinary addition to our neighborhood. Was I hallucinating while I ate it on the train?

Homemade salt-dusted focaccia + gorgeous milky burrata + fresh arugula + mortadella + deep pesto + a drop of oil. Some might critique the expense, but remember all that’s necessary to get a small business off the ground in this town.

NYC often cons itself into believing it’s got more food quality than other American cities, when realistically, there’s more expensive mediocrity here in establishments per capita than expensive quality. I admit to often entering establishments expecting to feel disappointment, but it’s not the feeling I left Luna with at all.

Thank you to all the people here doing the extremely difficult work to bring this level of detailed attention to food—it does not go unnoticed, and it helps me remember that there is truly excellent food here. I hope Gowanus’s rapid expansion over the next years can be a boon to...

This place - TOTALLY AMAZING!! The owners are so nice and thoughtful and caring (they both came over many times to make sure I was happy, and I was). And the food is seriously ‘off the charts’ great. The focaccia bread is worth dreaming about. We went for lunch (the best focaccia sandwich, pistachio latte, and brownie I have ever had in my life) … and stayed for hours as it’s a warm and welcoming place. I also left with 5 meals to go for the week (some of which will go to my 95 year old mother because the portions are huge and can easily be split). What a charming place! The cappuccinos are delicious & the food is omg, incredible!

I had Prosciutto, Manchego & Arugula Croissant Sandwich & my husband had the Focaccia Sandwich with Mortadella, Pistacchio Kale Pesto, Burrata & Arugula. All the ingredients were so fresh & the flavors were amazing! Not to mention, they have very scrumptious pastries & the best snickerdoodle cookie ever!

Update: Just had the Frittata for breakfast. What a delight!
