I am still upset about my experience at this salon from 3 days ago. On Wednesday 3/27 I went to White Birch for the first time and paid $73 for a powder gel manicure that was meant to last at least a week if not 2 weeks. While I was having the manicure, it hurt a bit and she also seemed to be doing different things to each hand, but when I asked what she was doing, she became annoyed and said “you never did this before, did you." I left the salon that night and the following morning left for a wedding. By Thursday afternoon, one of my nails had already chipped (picture attached). Two days later, four of the nails had chipped or cracked and looked terrible. My friends were shocked that it was powder gel because it should not have chipped at all! When I returned Sunday from the wedding, I went back to the salon. I showed the same lady my broken nails and asked for a refund. She immediately told me that I had not been there that Wednesday and that my nails were done over a week ago. I showed her my bank receipt for the service and she spent the next 10 minutes trying to find the receipt but could not. She continued to insist that I had not been at the salon 4 days ago. I insisted that I was and had proof. This woman proceeded to examine my nails and then tells me that it's "not the manicure" and that it was MY FAULT for "using [my] hands." At this point, I loudly exclaimed that is ridiculous, and I had not used my hands for anything out of the ordinary. Another worker came over and said "don't worry" and asked me to "shh." I told the woman that I did not want to cause a scene or leave a bad review; that I just wanted a refund. She pointed to the "no refund" sign, but I insisted that it was done poorly and kindly asked for my money back. The woman who originally did my nails told me she would remove the chipped nails and give me a regular manicure instead. I insisted that I spent a lot of money for a manicure to last me the next two weeks and that is not what I received, and I did not want to get another manicure at this salon. She then told me that was impossible and "NO ONE WILL BELIEVE YOU." I became upset at this point and demanded that she call her manager to issue a refund. She agreed, took my credit card and proceeded to try to issue a refund over the phone. INSTEAD - I get a notification that I have just been CHARGED AGAIN the $73. I would have understood if they were nice or apologetic but they blamed me the entire time and contributed to a terrible experience. At this point, I am out $146 and have no manicure. They insisted they would fix it but I refused to give my credit card again and left the salon. When I called my bank to report what had occurred and seek support for the refund, they told me that I "needed proof" even though they understood the situation and that I did not have any. So, I am sad to leave this bad review but I will never go back to this salon again and would...
Read moreI went into this salon to get a dip powder manicure. I had previously inquired and was told it was $60. I went in today and was again told $60 by who I believe was the owner. I agreed. When I paid I was told it would be $90 because they had removed the powder extensions. No one mentioned the exta charge until payment. Both times I inquired she looked at my nails before the $60 quote. I paid under protest but I will never return. BEWARE of their pricing or you will be overcharged. UPDATE: White Birch's answer misses the point. The manager checked my nails twice and being the expert should have known I had extensions. The tech also checked my nails and should have mentioned the extensions. I do not recall being asked about them but there may have been a language miscommunication. The fact remains had the tech told me when she saw the tips that there was an extra $30 charge to remove them I would have...
Read moreJuni and Joy are the best. Finally, a spot on the upper west side that is CLEAN, quiet, and pays attention to detail. Have been coming here since they opened and they've done the perfect job each time. Juni is so meticulous with gel manicures and it never chips or has brush strokes. Joy gave me the best pedicure with an amazing massage, which I don't feel like other nail salons in this area ever do, which I think is the best part. I'm always in a rush and I love that Juni does my manicure while i'm getting my pedicure at the same time. Joy did such a good job at my foot massage that I even paid to get a chair massage while Juni finished my manicure. It was the same as going to a massage spa, but getting your nails done at the same time. I can't recommend this new nail salon enough. I won't go...
