I came to watch a baseball game that was advertised on pig beaches social media on sunday the 28th of September with my wife. Unfortunately the staff that serves the food to you on that day where extremely dry and very non responsive. You tell them your order and they look at you like you have three heads on your shoulder and barely even say a word. They looked extremely miserable. I have no idea why. I have been here many times before with no issues. We got our food and found a spot to sit down that had a clear view of the outdoor big screen and also 2 other tvs next to us. We noticed as time was getting closer they did not put the game on yet. They had a New York Giants game on all screens in the place. I decided to go ask a staff member if they will be putting on the baseball game shortly because it was about to start soon. Wow must I say the person I interacted with was extremely unprofessional and rude. Her name was Gabby or Gary. She apparently was the manager at the time on duty on Sunday around 3pm. She was maybe 5 foot 4 inches, brown curly hair in a bun with glasses. I asked her the simple question if they will be putting on the baseball game soon. Her immediate response to me was "I can't just turn off the Giants game can i??? She gave me a deadpan stare with her hands on her hips like I inconvenienced her by asking a simple question. When I approached her she was busy doing absolutely nothing but scrolling on her phone. I returned to my seat to tell me wife about my rude encounter. We munched on our food a little bit to see what would happen when the time came closer to the start of the game. The game was about to start and the tvs where filled with football. Instead of talking to Gary/Gabby, I went to the bar and asked the bartender if he can change the tvs next to me to the baseball game. He told me I had to go speak to the manager and ask her to do it, and he pointed to Gary/Gabby. I immediately said we'll I already spoke to her and no offense she is extremely rude and doesn't seem like she wants to be bothered. He said that she is the one that has a tablet that can change the channels. He then said don't worry about it show me which tvs you want to put the game on and he will handle it. He was awesome! great guy and was extremely helpful. He went to tell Gary/Gabby about my request. The tv then changed to the baseball game. I also wanted a 2nd tv behind me to show the game so my wife could watch it without having to completely change where she was sitting. I then went to Gary/Gabby and asked her if she can also put the game on the 2nd tv next to us. Her immediate response was I already had a tv there to watch it on. I told her that it was hard for my wife to view due to where she was seated. She then said with a blank expression on her face and a hostile tone that she will change the channel but if anyone around the tv complains to her that she will send them right to my table so i can deal with them. I was shocked to what she told me and I immediately responded with "wow well that is 100 percent not the right answer" keep in mind when she said this to me she had a deadpan face, no smiles or laughter. Just an annoyed don't bother me look. She might as well have rolled her eyes each time. She immediately back peddled and said "Oh it was a joke I am just being cheeky with you I am just being cheeky with you" I asked her what her name was and she told me it was Gary, I was like OK Gary well if you can please change the channel it would be appreciated thank you, I would not have came here today if it wasnt for your post on social media about showing the game. I would have went somewhere else instead. I told her thank you and have a nice day and went back to my table. My wife told me while I was gone she asked a staff member to do the same. She said the staff member went to Gary/Gabby and hesitated because they gave him a nasty look. He came back to my wife and told my wife if she can ask her to do it herself instead because I guess he was scared of his manager. Gabby/Gary is...
Read moreI was in the mood for BBQ and decided to try a new place. I found a BBQ spot in Queens on Apple Maps with 4.5 stars and thought, “Can’t go wrong, right?” Before I dive into the review, a bit of context: I’ve enjoyed BBQ down south and at prime spots in NYC, with Delaney Barbecue being the best I’ve had in NYC. I also smoke my own meats, like brisket, ribs, pork butt, and turkey breast, using various wood chips. While I’m not a pit master, my palate is well-tuned, and I know quality BBQ when I see it.
Unfortunately, this place didn’t meet my expectations. The atmosphere is great for a BBQ hangout, but that’s about it. The service was mediocre, except for one guy at the hot sides station who was super chill and helpful. We only heard about the wing special after we had already ordered and sat down with our drinks.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I ordered the $40 platter with fries and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was disappointing—barely cheesy and the macaroni had a texture like cardboard. It might have been gluten-free or something, but it didn’t resemble any mac and cheese I’ve had at other BBQ spots. The turkey was extremely dry and looked like it came from a turkey breast mold. The brisket was odd; the fatty part lacked flavor, and the meat was dry, likely because they only served the flat part. The ribs were also dry, not succulent and juicy like smoked ribs should be, more like tasteless Chinese takeout ribs.
I began to wonder if this place actually smokes their meat or if it’s shipped in and reheated. There was no BBQ smell outside or inside, which seemed suspicious. The drinks were equally disappointing. I ordered a top-shelf drink that didn’t taste right, even though it only had two ingredients, one being Coke. I saw the bartender pour a Jack and Coke for someone else, and the liquor looked off, like it was part water, part Jack. I also had a beer that tasted like the beer lines needed cleaning, with a foamy, carbonated thickness that was off for an IPA.
In summary, if you don’t care for real smoked BBQ, and want to hang out and pretend you’re eating BBQ, this place might be for you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t...
Read moreI went Pig Peach and walked into this huge restaurant/bar/hangout spot! I think this is a great place to come hangout with some friends and watch the game. There’s plenty of room! I wish that they add to it because there just so much space. My experience however was not as great. Mind you it was not busy and it was not crowded. I ordered the chef Jeff’s brisket sandwich. I was expecting to have fresh brisket but that was not the case. The sandwiches were premade. And when the sandwich was handed to me, it was pretty cold and the bread was hard. I had ordered some large fries to go with it but they had just ran out so I had to wait. As I’m waiting no one explained to me where I needed to go. The woman by the register was checked out. Don’t hand me the buzzer for the meal. Until another gentleman walked over and handed it to me. I asked how long it would take for the order to be ready? The young lady sort of scoffed and replied “I’m I don’t know soon. (After a pause) I guess I’ll check.” But then proceeded to ask another customer to her register and then she took their order. She look at me and said I’ll check after one sec. I stood there pretty confused. Eventually she didn’t check and she told me they’ll bring it out just stand over there. She pointed back toward the area where the the woman was taking orders. I waited eventually the fries were ready and the buzzer went off. I walked over where the fries were on a plate. (I ordered this food to go. I told the gentlemen this and he got a box and poured the fries in. He did t close it. He just said “you got that.” And walked away. 🤣 Even I laughed cause I’m just wondering now: can I have a bag? Where are the napkins? Any help would be nice. I ask the person at the register for a bag and she hands me one. I eventually grab my sandwich and I head out. I can tell this place gets a lot of business but this felt more like a fast food experience than a sit down bbq experience. The sandwich was just ok, it was pretty small but that and the large fries was really not worth the price. I’m sure I caught them on a bad day. I wish this business all the best but I won’t be going back. Doesn’t...
