I recently had the pleasure of dining at Plum Vietnamese Restaurant, located in the heart of the Upper West Side. As a lover of Vietnamese cuisine, I was excited to try this establishment, and I must say, it did not disappoint.
One of the standout features of Plum Vietnamese Restaurant is their impressive wine selection. The restaurant boasts a well-curated list of wines that perfectly complement the vibrant flavors of Vietnamese cuisine. From crisp white wines to bold reds, there is a wine for every palate. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to provide recommendations, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Moving on to the food, I had the opportunity to try their duck curry, and it was a true delight. The curry was rich and fragrant, with tender pieces of succulent duck. The chef skillfully blended a medley of spices and herbs, resulting in a complex and deeply satisfying dish. The flavors were well-balanced, with just the right amount of heat. It was evident that great care was taken in the preparation of this dish.
Apart from the duck curry, Plum Vietnamese Restaurant offers a diverse menu with a wide range of traditional Vietnamese dishes. Whether you're craving pho, spring rolls, or a hearty noodle dish, you'll find it here. The menu also caters to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a fantastic meal.
The ambiance of Plum Vietnamese Restaurant is warm and inviting, with a contemporary yet cozy interior. The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall positive dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to offer suggestions and answer any questions.
While I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Plum Vietnamese Restaurant, it's worth noting that reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak hours. The restaurant tends to get busy, given its popularity, so it's best to plan ahead to secure a table.
In conclusion, Plum Vietnamese Restaurant on the Upper West Side is a hidden gem for Vietnamese cuisine enthusiasts. My partner and i stopped into Plum for the first time after work on Monday evening hoping to enjoy the pho. The elder woman who hastily greeted us upon walking in was incredibly UNwelcoming. Both my partner and I couldn’t help to sense feeling discriminated against. She stated they were no longer seating tables — only take out orders. Reluctantly we decided to take out. As we sat waiting for our order to complete, the sweet waitress greeted us by offering a glass of water w/a side of lime wedges. The elder woman who originally greeted us, came over to where we had been sitting and abruptly removed the lime wedges from the table. I then asked the lovely waitress if she could kindly return the lime wedges that were aggressively removed from the elder woman. We then noticed our food had been quickly ready in approx 5-8 mins after ordering (which we’d immediately thought was odd and had raised another red flag) When we arrived back to our car, we checked our food only to notice the steak had appeared/tasted raw and uncooked. And for the second order, the broth had little to no seasoning or savor whatsoever. It had tasted much like warm salt water broth. No love and integrity invested into both food orders at all. My partner and I were incredibly disappointed and frustrated! It was so awful, we did not continue to eat the food, therefore went home furiously hungry.
In hindsight, we’ve assessed the entire experience as rushed and mistreated with inequality.

Read moreBS +++ Dying for a very modern twist to Vietnamese food? Like chill, small, low key restaurants on the Upper West side? Came here on a Tuesday night to celebrate a mini birthday. The people are super nice and very chill. I ordered some sake first and beers. The menu is super simple and best of all since I am Vegan had options I can order from or they can hook it up by changing some things around. I loved the small portions. Although inflation hit hard Americans do not need to eat a soup bowl the size of a jacuzzi. I say this is how Europeans eat. We ordered so much I can't even begin to start naming them. We ordered the fried spring rolls. the dumplings, as well the pork, and beef main dishes. I ordered the vegetable pho and my son had the meaty one. We also ordered fries and banh mi. Overall great experience. Parking was not hard to find either. You just have to be patient. The restrooms are clean as well. Do me a favor when you visit. Tip them. Be kind. This place needs to survive this craziness. They deserve the success!
