I wish I didn't have to give any stars at all. My family and I had THE WORST DINNING experience there. A friend of mine opened a show across the street so afterward a group of us decided to pop in. We were immediately seated but one person was on her phone outside, immediately the waiter had an attitude although we express the number of guests he should accommodate. I tried to leave but my relative wanted to stay. We gave he waiter our order and asked for a brief 5 minutes for hers. He gave us sooo much attitude. During the time of his "huffing and puffing" she came in and immediately ordered without looking at the menu. Was he happy? of course not he proceeded to talk about us in his native tongue and other waiters began looking at us. We ordered all drinks virgin but we were not informed that the Iced tea was "spiked". My cousin has an illness and cannot drink and the rest of us do not drink due to religious reasons. He started yelling at us. It was embarrassing and we contemplated responding but played it cool. Called one of his superiors over and he pretended as though as he never was exposed to the english language. Not being rude we waited for the food. It was done the way we asked but then they closed down the shutter on the few of us inside and kept trying to give us hints that they wanted us to leave. Other guests at this point are now upset. The bar stays open so do we have to move? some inquired but hospitality and concern where no where to be found and we quickly got the check and wanted to run out. The waiter comes over and demands a check. I was so appalled. One of the guest have never been to NYC and got a full taste of a mean called DISRESPECTFUL. It destroyed the meal for us and we promised never to return. I do not care how great food is customer service needs to match. If your rude to me I'm not second guessing you spitting in my food and serving it with a sarcastic smile. Never again. I hope they shut down!!! I never give negative reviews but this left a bad taste in my mouth I have yet to get over and it was...
Read moreMy friend Anne and I were in the neighborhood and she had read some of the Yelp reviews on this place. Naturally we had to try it. We went in for lunch and were not disappointed. The staff is friendly without being too over the top and the food is delicious. Someone said the portions were a little small but neither of us thought so. The portions were perfect for us and for a lunch meal. Anne had the Lasagna Bolognese and I tried the Fettuccine all' Amartriciana. My dish was home made fettucine combined with guanciale (pig cheek), pecorino cheese, onion, in a tomato sauce. The sauce was slightly thickened with the cheese and was perfection. It adhered to the pasta very well, and tasted like tomato, slightly tangy, and not overly sweet like some tomato sauce. I also got to try Anne's lasagna and it was so much more than the standard fare you get elsewhere. The bolognese sauce was meaty and thick, and the lasagna came in a little bowl. The cheese on top must have been put under the broiler for a little bit because it has a crunchy, cheesy taste like no other lasagna I have ever had. We each had a wonderful glass of wine and the owner brought us over tirimisu for desert, on the house. I am not a fan of tirmisu because I don't like coffee but I had to give it a try anyway. Do not pass this beautiful desert up if you have the chance to try it. Even if you hate coffee you will love it. This place is definitely on my list of places...
Read moreFor native NYers this is simply the BUTTA Spot!
No other name or description needed. Don’t believe me, you can now Google “butta spot” and see what comes up.
For those of us that “grew” here this is where you came back in the day for a great drink. Before nutcrackers were a thing and most definitely before Covid and drinks to-go were ever consider a legal option.
One of those old-school spots that just hits. Nothing fancy, simple and clean… just good food and fast to the point service and the Butta drinks are always on point. This place just brings back such nostalgia. Now I must admit what is far from nostalgic is the “2025” Butta prices. After many years the prices were a shock upon my recent return.
I remember when you could get a Butta for…. Nevermind I was about to date myself. LOL.
Besides the Butta the wings are also still a must for me. Since I came mainly for the butta, I only grabbed wings. Of course even the food prices have seen an increase.
Our server was funny and friendly, matching the restaurant's simple laid-back vibe.
Just one of those places you have to return to because it brings back that touch of nostalgia that is sometimes needed with the passing of time.
Just A Note:
-They do offer some lunch specials before 3pm.
-The drinks are a smidge… just a smidge cheaper if...
