Okay this review is a long time coming - i’ve been coming to ponyboy since they opened every couple weeks and every time i come i find something reviewable and i NEVER feel the need to do that. First - the staff- what in fresh hell is going on here? I can’t tell if their only customers are friends of theirs or if they just have a huge staff who all hang out together. I always feel like the waiters and bar staff are 1. taking shots and hanging out at the bar 2. blatantly ignoring us or leaving us alone for extremely long periods and 3. straight up unprofessional/unprepared. I’m not sure how this place gets tips and flips tables because of how slow the service is. I’ve walked in, waited for someone to sit us, and been ignored several times. I’ve worked in the service industry for 8 years and this would never fly anywhere i’ve worked. Secondly, the food is good :/ cocktails are fine :/ . It’s unfortunate how much the staff lacks. Last time I ate here the waitress promised she would remember all the food and then forgot something we ordered, and we waited to get the bill for so long we had to go to the bar, which then turned us away and we then met the owner and at this point we were so over the...

I had high hopes when I brought a group of 17 people to Ponyboy expecting a fun night with great vibes. Instead, it turned into a clear example of how pretentious some spots in Brooklyn have become. Despite our group buying plenty of drinks, we were told we had to purchase a $300 bottle just to get a table. later in the night that price mysteriously jumped to $350. Keep in mind, this isn’t a club. It’s a cocktail bar trying way too hard to be one. What’s even more frustrating is that we easily spent more than that bottle would’ve cost, but apparently, it’s more about appearances than actual business. I had chosen this spot hoping the DJ would bring energy to the night, but that was another letdown—nothing that made you want to dance, just background noise. Overall, not worth the hype, not worth the hassle. Definitely not a place I’d recommend or return to. Brooklyn deserves...
Read moreWe read all the terrible reviews and had to experience it for ourselves, being locals who love going to the new bars and support them! We went on a Friday night and it was empty except the aforementioned bar “gang” seemingly made up of friends hanging out and such. Because it was empty, and we were served immediately and had fine service for what it was. Our bad experience came when we paid our bar tab using our credit card and the bartender gave us the iPad to pay with and there was an automatic 20% tip (or 25 or 39%) added to our bill, without the ability to choose otherwise without bringing up an awkward conversation with the bartender. I’ve never had this happen at a bar before, especially when our tab was only $15. As a patron anywhere, you should be given the choice to tip as you wish. Needless to say we will not be returning as it was shady AF and just...
