I've been on a NY best pizza journey for a while and I finally found my favorite slice. I've been fascinated with NY pizza for a while and had no luck finding anything very authentic in CA. After stopping by Reg'z yesterday on a chance hotel stay in LIC, I was blown away by a number of things.
First, the hospitality. This spot is family owned and it shows through and through. Not only do they work together well, I felt like I was being treated as a family friend. They gave awesome recommendations and we learned some cool facts about each other.
Second, the pizza quality. I had a personal criteria going into my pizza exploration and I really wanted to find a slice that has: crisp, good sauce, and good cohesion. The regular cheese slice really hit all marks for me, but I was in store for more. All the different slice varieties have unique sauces which kept things interesting in a great way. The Pep Diavolo was super flavorful and is probably my favorite, followed by the Upside Down, and Margherita. For the latter, the fresh basil came through in a way that I do not recall tasting for other Margherita slices.
I could say so much more about this spot and the fantastic people that own it, but if you're looking for good pizza, look no further! Can't wait to come back to NY and try more...

An 18" Margarita, beautifully balanced with an even ratio of fresh chiffonades of basil to eye raising chops of tomato. Their bold contrasts were held together superbly with generous amounts of cheese. The dough was only slightly thicker than a thin crust, mere millimeters, but had the elasticity and flavor complexity of a Detroit style crust. If Reg'z wanted, they could've turn a profit on breadsticks alone. I want to go back to the tomatoes, I can't figure out what it is they do to them but it carries the flavor of their immaculate signature sauce so so well, but never becomes overwhelming. I won't disrespect this establishment with the mention of prices because I don't want it to be perceived as "some joint for cheap bites", but I will say that it is certainly worth every penny. The staff is nice and respectable, the food is delicious and consistent, if you are anywhere within 15 miles of this place....
Read moreWow, this place is amazing! We’ve been on a quest to find the perfect pizza in NYC and this is the top of the list. It has the perfect crunch when you bite into it, AND it has amazing flavor. We got cheese, margarita, and the pep diavolo. All three were delicious but to my surprise, the thick crust and the sauce of the pep diavolo really push it over the edge. The owner told us that they actually use different sauces for different pizzas. We saw caramelized onions in the pep diavolo sauce and it had a touch of hot honey but it wasn’t too spicy. The owners were amazing and really took the time to make sure we enjoyed everything. We actually went back the next day before we left town to enjoy it again!...
