Great food, horrible service! I sat down at sidewalk table. Table was wobbly, there was a shim (wadded paper) next to - not under - one table leg. I asked the waiter, a bearded Alex, to fix it. He accused me of moving the shim. I said, "I didn't do it." Alex said,"Yes, you did." I asked Alex for iced coffee. Alex brought HOT coffee. Fifteen minutes later, I finally got iced coffee, after asking inside.I got a delicious souvlaki turkey sandwich on toasted pita, but there was NO SET-UP on the table. I had to go inside again and ask the owner for it. Alex never came back to ask, "Is anything all right?" I'd been writing with a favorite red pen. I looked high and low but my pen suddenly had mysteriously vanished!. When Alex brought back my credit card slip, MY PEN was there in the check folder. Alex has taken MY PEN off the table rather than using his! This is totally unacceptable impudent behavior. Then I asked Alex for a refill of iced coffee. "We only do refills on coffee, not iced coffee," he informed me. I'd never hear of this before. As I was leaving I asked Alex, "What's your REAL profession? Because you're certainly not a waiter." While I was talking to him Alex turned and walked away. Such unmitigated, insulting impertinence I have never encountered in 50+ years of dining out. This "waiter" RUINED an otherwise perfectly fine meal. He definitely should be disciplined...if not fired, and taught how to do his job right, people skills, and good manners! I regret even giving him...
Read moreTelio used to make an incredible salmon salad. You'd get a nice piece of perfectly cooked salmon in a delectable piccata sauce, alongside a hearty salad with beefsteak tomatoes, perfect lettuce and green peppers, and an incredible Balsamic vinegar dressing. It got me through many tough times and medical crises. I ordered it frequently and was so sad when they closed.
I was so relieved when Telio was saved from closing and moved in with Good Enough to Eat. But I went there last week and I am STILL miserably ill with food poisoning. The salmon was "rare," which I decided to try. BIG MISTAKE. I spent the night after that dinner waking up every two hours to run to the bathroom. Also, the tomatoes in the salad were either one step from spoiled or completely spoiled. And they ruined the piccata sauce by adding sugar to it!
Do not patronize Telio. Their quality has plummeted. At best you'll be disappointed. At worst, you'll have...
Read moreUnderrated Greek spot in UWS! Am not too experienced with Greek food, but I really enjoyed the food! The somewhat high price came with a large portion of really good food. The bread was much more flavorful than I expected. We got a Tyrokafteri (red pepper and feta cheese spread) that was really tasty with the pita. The Tilapia Mediterranean was really nicely cooked a little crispy on the edges, and went really nicely with the rice and tomato flavors. The Greek Sampler was huge! The fries were fresh and crispy, and the meats were a nice sample of everything, and likely enough food for two to share.
The desserts are likely the most underrated here. We only got a Pumpkin pie, but I was really impressed by the flavor and texture. It was surprisingly sweet, flavorful, and aromatic yet not as heavy as I would expect for a dessert. I would definitely go back to try the other desserts if I was...
