I will start by saying I don't hate Sophie's or anyone working there. The food is okay but way too greasy and full of fat. Better chance of eating Mcdonalds to be honest.
Anyway, I've worked there for about 3 months before finally leaving. In a 3 month period atleast 4 or 5 employees have quit. Mostly becuz they lack communication and management skills. The supervisors are lazy and unorganized. They push as much work on each person as possible so they do nothing but stand around and be on their phones. They NEVER even acknowledge you when you are going far and beyond to keep up with all the things they tell you to do. They don't care any care of how you are doing, they only care about results.
Secondly, ALWAYS under staffed. Instead of them people a full team on the floor thet rather have you doing 2 or 3 things at once and expect you to fast as if you can split into 2 people. All to save money for themselves. Most of the time the Supervisors pretend to be doing something just to avoid doing extra work. Instead they tell an employee to stop what they are doing to do another task and then another task witch results in many UNFINISHED task that they get upset about if not done before the shift ends. They don't know how to be a team player and help when it is needed.
And the pay is uneven for everyone. Don't expect nothing but pocket change working there. They will cut your hours like it's no big deal to you. Hours that could be used to help out during those busy times. I was promised $13/hr after training but instead got $12.50/hr. Anyone applying just be aware of their lies. Don't expect any Health benefits or perks other than paying half price for the food you serve to customers.
And last and the worst thing is that even though they got an A from the Health department they don't follow proper Health procedures. Examples are cooks putting there hands in the food and eating it while cooking it, not always using gloves, using trays to serve customers that had fallen on the floor, ect. I'm sure you get the point.
I left becuz I was not treated like a valued employee, just a...
Read moreYou're paying for the location, not the quality of food. My order turned out to be 19 dollars... For a "lunch special." (A lunch special in my home area costs like 7 bucks and it's actually good)
Anyways let me tell you what I ordered. You pick 3 sides & a protein. I selected the mixed greens, tostones & avocado with rotisserie chicken as my side. You can select from rice and beans to yuca, etc. They do have a selection, it just doesn't taste good lol. The chicken was sooo dry, and it was pinkish red... Aka under cooked. Who eats undercooked chicken?! Not I. Anyways the avocado was the smallest and unflavored slice of avocado I've ever had.
Don't do it to yourself. I also got an empanada(cheese), just for the hype. Everyone seems to love them from there and well it was pretty good. Not worth 3.19 though, especially considering you can prob get 2 or even 3 for that same price somewhere else. 19 dollars wasted and I didn't even get a beverage, thankfully they had free water so I could rinse the food down. Ended up tossing over 50% of it, except the empanada-- can't waste that.
Prob won't return & if I do. Its for that overpriced empanada, unless I find an...
Read moreNOT GLUTEN FRIENDLY, PORTIONS GOT SMALL, PRICE GOT HIGH. I used to come to Sophie's often, but it's been awhile. I'm gluten intolerant and noticed that they updated their menu to point out what's safe or not. I ordered and paid $20 with tax and tip for a single lunch special meal delivered to my office nearby. Had the roast pork (pernil), yucca with garlic, fried sweet plantains (these aren't deep fried as far as I know, so they should be okay. Not marked as containing gluten) and hot veggies medley. The meal was much smaller that they used to offer and swimming in oil at the bottom. I seemed to be fine eating the pork, veggies and plantains, but the yucca with garlic made me feel ill. It wasn't fully soft everywhere, so not sure if they made a mistake in preparation or cross-contaminated it with gluten (maybe using shared spoons to dole it out. I have no idea.)
In any case, that was a vey expensive and unsatisfying meal to have to throw out and be left feeling ill. I won't...
