tl;dr Very wet burger. Hard to eat. Quality of construction and ingredients were sub-par for $20 combo. Will not be coming back anytime soon. People working there are nice.
Got their original burger combo.
The patties in the burger were a good size, but also weren't cooked to fully utilize the maillard process so, they came out tasting less flavorful.
This was a VERY wet burger and the burger very intent on disemboweling itself from betwixt it buns. It was kind of a struggle to eat a burger that with every bite, would push out almost all of its ingredients. Maybe there was too much sauce, and the pickle+tomato creating a slip-n-slide surface inside the burger did not help. I had to resort to eating my burger from different directions just to push the ingredients back in. The bun is there to keep my hands from getting messy, but this burger is so wet and slippery that there was no hope. One real disappointment is that all of their collateral, including their website photos, clearly show whole leaf lettuce, which could help with this slip-n-slide problem. My burger came with shredded lettuce instead, so it sort of just made it easier for the sauce to REALLY cover everything. The caramelized onions were more like onions that were saute'd for 5 minutes and were just beginning to sweat, which unfortunately made the burger even more wet and slippery.
Was told the combo came with seasoned fries and that the seasoning was good. The fries weren't even salted enough so that was already sort of a baseline failure, don't even mind that the seasoning looked/tasted like a single shake of pre-ground black pepper. I ended up adding my own cajun seasoning and still ended up tossing most...
Read moreVisiting NYC from the UK for the first time, we weren’t familiar with the best halal food spots. We came across this place through a food blogger and decided to check it out after spending some time in DUMBO.
The restaurant is located in Brooklyn, in an area that felt a bit like Shoreditch back home—trendy and full of character. Upon entering, we found a decent amount of seating. The tables and stools are on the higher side, which might be tricky with very young kids, but our 9- and 11-year-olds had no trouble.
The menu was quite extensive, but a staff member helpfully handed me a condensed version highlighting bestsellers—a great touch that made choosing easier. We ordered two original burger meals, a dozen wings, and fries topped with chicken. The total came to around £70.
While waiting, we enjoyed the lively yet relaxed atmosphere. The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes, all freshly prepared.
The burgers were cooked medium as requested—juicy and flavorful, with a nice balance of sauce, fresh veggies, and soft buns. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft inside, just how we like them. But the standout? The wings. Big, juicy, and packed with flavor. I wish I remembered the two flavors we chose because both were spot on.
Overall, it was one of the best meals we had during our NYC trip—highly...
Read moreInside seating was plentiful as I went around 7:30 pm. The dining area was clean as well as the bathroom. Music played on the intercom but wasn't too loud as you can enjoy conversation without having to raise your voice. Meals are cooked to order so it takes a little (under 10 minutes) while to receive your food but is so worth it. The menu has various burger options and sides if you wish to add more for a larger party. I went with the Brooklyn Stack burger combo which came with seasoned fries and a drink. Came out to like $17 but well worth it as this will be my go to burger joint going forward. Highly recommend to anyone in the Brooklyn area looking to sit in for 30 minutes and hungry for a flavorful burger with light, crispy fries. There aren't fountain drinks but they provide a decent selection of canned drinks that are in a refrigerator behind the counter. Bonus- They also provided me a military veteran discount of 10%. I will certainly bring family and friends here when...
