Ms Margaret was very sweet. She assisted me through my order since I wasn't too sure what to get, and although she first recommended dumplings (which looked delicious might I add), when I mentioned not having that big of a few dietary restrictions she guided me through the tray menu. You don't have a lot of people willingly accommodate like that on the spot these days, and I really appreciate it. Price wise, it's amazing. Especially for new york, or manhattan in general.
Me and my friend felt very welcome, in the end said friend and I shared a meal (the portions are really big!) while studying.
Turns out, the atmosphere, despite feeling a bit busy towards the front, felt very calm towards the end of the establishment! Very good for studying in the back, and good for friend hang out in the front!
Location wise, it's also very good. There seems to be a arcade below ground level (not connected to this restaurant business wise if that makes sense- its seperate but in the same building), there's a good bubble tea place in the front which I had yet to try, and the coffee(with some tea/lemonade options) place beside it.
I'll be returning in the future to study here with friends (doing so later today actually, so theyve got themselves a returning few customers)! It seems to be a good place for me and my friends to catch up on overdue work. There's wifi present (you have to ask the workers, I personally didn't need it but I watched as another lady came up with a menu and showed a man the wifi code), and internet isn't blocked in the back of the seating area.
There's a bathroom, it's pretty clean last I went, I just can't recall if there's a changing station. The seating areas around Dim Sum House are also near wall sockets if you need to study, unlike the other restaurants closer towards the entrance of the building.
I don't believe they offer desserts, but I think it's better that way. It shows that Dim Sum House is dedicated to their appetizers and main meals.
They also have...
Read moreLocated inside one of the newest food court in Manhattan, Broadway Food Court, this stall serves fast Chinese dishes like dim sum, noodles, and rice meals. The food is solid and priced well for this neighborhood. I would probably have given this a higher rating had it been in a different neighborhood but being located so close to Manhattan’s Chinatown, I felt it only warranted 3.5 stars. We got their 10 piece Pan Fried Dumplings ($13.95) and their 6 piece Steamed Xiao Long Bao ($10.95). The dumplings were juicy and filled with pork and leeks. It came with pickled veggies and soy sauce dipping sauce. I thought this was well worth the price. The xiao long bao were okay. It didn’t have a lot of broth but it was good. Honestly, if I was looking for excellent Chinese food, I probably would have walked the 4-5 blocks to Chinatown but for a stall in a food court in SoHo, I thought the food was...
Read moreTABLES ARE DIRTY! SEATS ARE DIRTY!! NO NAPKINS!! Well, service doesn’t exist in this place, waiting 30 minutes for a dim sum that takes 10 minutes to steam, orders that were taken after me were called in and picked up, ate and left, I had asked for my order few times… but- the customer is not right in this place! You don’t get what you ordered until you get really really rude and frustrated, I refuse to be rude like other customers I had seen.. so I just sat down and waited for the order.. The food is delicious, but since there are so many other food options in this same place, I would not come back and eat in this place, I will try the other vendors! I’m sorry but you can do so much better, if you had 2 ppl working the counter, as an Executive Chef I see the issue and it’s so easy to fix! You can loose it all by being cheap on service! For tase I give 5 stars Service...
