Read moreI visited yesterday (Wednesday). I was immediately wowed... this place is humongous and beautifully decorated..so airy and spacious. And although I truly appreciate beautiful surroundings ultimately I'm there for the food. I had the datiles and the tortilla .Both were excellent. Also had a couple of glasses of Rioja.....all I can say is suberb...immediately brought me back to my trip to Spain 3 years ago. And because I have a sweet tooth I had to have the flan. Also excellent., not too sweet, lighter than most other flan, and made with real vanilla beans. Besides the great food and drinks the staff there are incredible. Extremely friendly. The bartender/server that served me was very kind. I wish I could remember his name (he had a man bun) Mona , hostess/ manger was an absolute doll....She was amazing. I was dining by myself and she would come by in between guests to check up on me...we had such great conversation. Of course I will be returning within the week. This is such a welcome addition to Astoria. It's the perfect place for a romantic date or for individuals like myself that's just looking for a nice place to have a drink and a few bites, a large party could be easily accommodated here as well and everything in between. Welcome to the...
Read moreThis was a long awaited reopening. They used to be in Flatiron and became a victim of covid. They have reopened in Astoria after 2 and half year absence. They were in the City for nearly 20 years. Consistently great Spanish food amd the wine is awesome. The staff arE like family. This was my Cheers and go to bar with friends or alone. I missed their food as I was hard pressed to find any other Spanish spot that consistently put out great Spanish food. If you like Spanish wines you will love their selection. They are in soft opening mode and most likely a full opening in a week or two. I have ready been 3 times to eat. They are a block and half from the 36th Ave subway.
Some of he dishes I had were:
-The pulpo a la plancha is a must have. It's just perfectly made and the potato confit is a great with it. -The queso de cabra is a great dosh to eat with wine. -The empanadas were wow..better than they were in their previous location. The shell is soft and the filling is deeelish! -The croquettes are among the best your Will have and are not greasy. You can't just have one!
The Branzino was wow..I ate the whole thing. It was fresh and flaky the skin light and crisp.. the salad was a nice touch..easily...
