On arrival I was greeted immediately and seated. Within a minute, the server presented the drink menu, and my order of Thai Iced Tea arrived swiftly in no less than two minutes. The presentation was unembellished, yet the preparation was skillful. Attentiveness from the staff was fantastic at this moment.

Taking the order I started off with the classic, 6pc of California rolls and 6pc of Salmon rolls. While these choices are often considered entry-level staples of a sushi menu, their execution here was above ordinary. The presentation was average once more, although understandable due to the simpleness of the order. This order came in no less than 8 minutes.

At this point in the review I must acknowledge that it took approximately 20 minutes for my table to be bussed from its finished plate of rolls. This is most likely due to the policy implemented to the servers/bussers, not bussing tables until asked.

During these 20 minutes I ordered Sapporo Miso Ramen. The presentation consisted of a bowl and the contents inside of said bowl. With that being said, the Sapporo Miso Ramen was splendid and definitely is worthy of trying if you ever come to visit this restaurant. Everything in this bowl presentation wise is standard for a Sapporo Miso Ramen bowl.

Yet the consistent lack of visual appeal across courses limited the overall experience. While the flavors were consistently strong, the absence of presentation polish and the decline in attentiveness during the latter half of the meal proved disappointing. Still, the restaurant’s pricing is highly reasonable for New York City. The rolls are priced between $6 and $8 and the charming thematic décor contributes...

Eating here at tenjo was like a little slice of home and reminded me of what it was like for me to grow up as a Japanese kid in the snowy Hill tops of my big beautiful home country of Japan.

However, there were definitely a few things that I will definitely recommend management that they can take care of.

Are Japanese citizen of Japan the first thing that I will definitely recommend is number one is to make the Japanese Ramen to have more richness to it.

The second thing that will also recommend for management to also improve upon is potentially the customer service as well .

In my big beautiful home country of Japan we are tremendously attentive, and we are always looking to provide and strive for the best Customer Service and care that we wanna provide for everyone .

I felt that the service was a little bit slow, and there were a few instances where I had to wave down our waitress .

Another thing that I was not pleasantly happy about was the size of the Japanese skewer. I felt that it was tremendously small and it made me question whether or not we were in World War II and we were beginning to ration our food.

I seen in the image. The Japanese skewer was very very small and wasn’t really really appetizing to be completely honest.

All in all, I believe that the experience was one of a kind, and it was great to see my big beautiful home country of Japan be appropriately represented in the big apple here in the United States of America, the land of opportunity .

As a Japanese citizen of Japan, I will definitely be back and we hope to see that there will be some...

tenjou is a newly opened japanese restaurant located conveniently in the heart of flatiron, nyc. it’s only a block down from the train station, and even better—it’s a place where you can have all your japanese food cravings all in one place. service was also great; everyone was attentive and checked in on my table.

as i entered the restaurant, it transported me back japan. their japandi interior is so beautiful and truly resembles what i have seen from japan myself. the menu offers food items such as your classic japanese appetizers, sushi (sashimi, classic + specialty rolls, sashimi), ramen, rice dishes such as omurice and sushi bowls, yakitori, and all you can think of! everything was prepared with an aesthetic presentation and most importantly, also tasted delicious. they also have $25 lunch set menus, which is such a steal!

what i ordered — • shrimp tempura (so crispy and fresh! the spicy mayo that came with it made it even better) • spicy tuna gyoza (i love my sashimi so this was amazing. loved how there’s a contrast of a fried exterior with the spicy tuna inside) • ika geso kara-age • fifth avenue specialty roll (contains salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. their fish is sooo fresh!! ) • spicy bowl (essentially a poke bowl with spicy salmon + spicy tuna!) • sapporo miso ramen (the soup was amazing) • thai iced tea (flavorful and perfectly sweetened!) • matcha pudding (thick and has a good balance in flavor) • caramel pudding

if you’re looking to fulfill your japanese food cravings, tenjou is the...

Their ramen soup made me want to cry! It had so much depth and flavor without making it too heavy or leaving one with certain after taste. My picture here really does not do it justice. All ramen restaurant chefs need to be sent here for additional training. The omurice was absolutely amazing with the exception of the fried rice underneath. The fried rice was indeed tasting a bit too hard and old. The peppercorn sauce was so silky and delicious. If they would pay more care to the fried rice underneath and refine it somehow, the entire dish would be perfection and unbeatable. The sushi was very good. Their fatty tuna sashimi was not worth $14 a piece, because it didn't give me the melt-in-your-mouth experience. I probably should have listened to the waiter and gotten the sashimi platter instead to just experience two pieces (one person each) of the sashimi and receive more other types of sashimi instead. Nonetheless, the sashimi presentation was beautiful and elegant. The service was great. Everyone was patient, polite, and kind and worked as a team, and we were give their restaurant branding trinkets for free. It was a sweet gesture. This was a huge treat for us visiting from Houston, Texas! Ps. Their bathroom was roomy, contemporary, and clean!! Very impressed!!
