They have failed sanitary inspection for months already, for the following reasons, according to the public NYC health.nyc.gov site:
This is truly remarkable for a very small candy/ice cream store, and should be especially noted as they are directly across the street from Ronald McDonald House, where very sick children stay, and they should not be receiving tainted treats that a visitor might pick up from this candy store. The owners don't let customers into the store, and it's been this way for years. Customers must wait on the sidewalk. The owner must not want them to see the inside...
Read moreI visited this candy shop after seeing it on a viral TikTok. It is safe to say I was not disappointed at all, this has to be the best candy store in Manhattan. Matthew, one of the workers at this store is one of the nicest people I have met. He was very receptive to my request of having more sour candy in my mystery box, which I have received a lot of. He also gave a free candy along with my order which I was pleasantly surprised with. When I sat down to eat the candy I was extremely impressed by the quality and selection of the candy, worth every penny! While sitting in front of the shop, Matthew came out and talked to us about the candy, even going the extra mile to give us free Swedish candy when I was debating on going to buy another box to try the imported Swedish candy, brought out some freeze dried candy, and also brought out his dad’s famous chocolate ice cream for us to try (unlike any chocolate ice cream you have ever tried, definitely try it if you are here!). I was shocked and very touched by his kindness! Matthew and his shop are a must visit if you are in the upper east side or willing to make...
Read moreHappened Amon this amazing store by chance. I went near closing. Matthew was super helpful. I sat outside and couldn’t decide. He allowed me to come in and take a load of photos. As a Brit I was surprised to find a load of sweets I normally like. Especially the gummy cola bottles. I’m almost 50 years old and the memories were wonderful. Matthew showed me some alternatives. I felt a bit rushed as I realized the time but he didn’t mention anything. No hard sell which was also great. I regret not buying more stuff as I got to a friends birthday party and sweets got devoured! (50/50 Brits / NYers). Popping candy was a hit. I saved some l Candy buttons for cupcakes I’m making. I was advised they won’t melt in buttercream (Yay). I’m definitely going back for more sweets and will try an ice cream. I’m pretty sure Matthew gave me a complimentary lollipop! The one on the pic. The rest is what survived the party. Brown bag was the cola bottle bag. A couple of seats outside under a tree. Which was nice for a rest and shade. Definitely go and check this place out. I’m so glad I came across it as I’ll be a...
