The Irony is every "other time" I've come to Veniero's seeking a delicious Italian dessert the 🎇 rating is 5 but "NOT TODAY."
(5/7/19) I'm in the middle of my pro-active super local staycation I came to Veniero's for the goodness of a mini desert treat. The process involves taking a number and waiting for that number to be called by a counter attendent. I waited in line and patiently waited for my turn. You know, the old fasioned way. And that's how I got Customer Service Agent Garrick.
I was initially happy in front of the dessert window as I pointed downward in the direction of a mini Cannoli - that was not chocolate. But I neglected to provide the name of my dessert item. My bad, fore this - my mistake - caused Garrick to huff and roll his eyes and tell me that behind the counter - no labels are provided to identify desserts.
Therefore, he had no idea which pastry I wanted. Garricks vibe toward me felt testy and unwelcomed. AND thats how I made the insightful decision to get someone else to finish my desert transaction . When I asked Garrick to get me someone else to complete my purchase Garrick responded to me with the one word term "Perfect." You know, sarcastically. I felt the snippyness instantly. But I said nothing.
I waited. Now ticketless I called out to Garrick "dont you need to tell someone I'm waiting?" Lo and behold thats when Garrick took nextsteps. He got me an alternate counter person.
The woman who replaced Garrick was hassle free in her Customer Service exchange and delivery😄. I then got a mini chocolate chip creamy pastry. The two items cost $3.61.
I decided to speak to Garricks manager about my dissapointing experience with him. The manager apologized and assured me he would be talking to Garrick. PERFECT!😤😤
I will be back for more delcious pastries making sure to avoid Garrick in my dessert...
Read moreI visited this bakery last friday, when I was in deep need of something sweet, i was greeted with a nice warm smell of fresh pastries and sweets. Dozens of sweets are displayed all over the counter and each one looks better than the one before, leaving you very indecisive and lost in the non ending sweets.
as per usual when I’m lost by so many options, I always ask a staff member for help; staff was interestingly diverse, some of them were extremely nice and helpful some weren’t really as attentive and cooperative, i had to talk to at least 3 different members till i decided on what to get, I got a couple of each to try out different options and give a solid opinion about this bakery.
I got: a pistachio cannoli a hazelnut tart an oreo tart Raspberry Rugulah Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Chocolate Finger
Overall it was absolutely delicious and fulfilled my sweet tooth that day, especially with the cold brew coffee I had, amazing mixture together. But i will have to say that I’ve heard so much about this bakery that maybe my expectations were higher, this’s not to say that this bakery was bad, not their cookies and cannoli were perfect, especially the cannoli cream just perfection. But i’ll have to say, the tarts weren’t my favorite thing persay, so i’d stick with the cannolis and cookies. Next time I hop in this bakery i’ll have to try their cheesecake as i’ve heard it’s a true delight too! Would definitely recommend stopping by here and getting yourself something nice
Forgot to mention that one of the employee treated me in a very nice one and gave me a sample to try from the cookies, very nice and...
Read moreTo be fair, their pastries are excellent. I've came to this pastry shop for the past 40 years and love it. I ordered Birthday cakes, wedding cakes and that almond cheesecake is amazing! Reason why I gave them two stars is because of their poor customer service from the front of the store to the Servers. Ice Cappuccino with whipped cream used to have Whipped Cream out of a can and Gelato, now it is a small cup of mediocre Iced Cappuccino with Cool Whip spooned on top. Waiter was the worst. Brought me a slice of stale strawberry shortcake with Birthday writings on it!! It is not cool to serve cakes customers didn't pick up. Bill came to $35 and I'd still put a 20% tip for bad service. On my way out I wanted to pick up some pastries and butter cookies and three customers stepped in front of me to place their order when the two people behind the counter saw I was standing there first! So I put down another $60 worth of frustrations! It's really a shame because it's a family business for many generations and their services has became rude and dismissive. This is not the early 1900s. There's plenty of Italian and French Bakeries I can spend money at in NYC. Market much more competitive and customers will not tolerate this. Don't think that loyalty will justify rudeness. I've been a loyal customer for years but I won't be treated this way especially when I spent so...
