AVOID the 7620 rivers location if you can. While the food is adequate, the service needs much improvement. My spouse and 5 year old niece visited this location while in the Hanahan area. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and after requesting to sit outside on a beautiful charleston evening, the hostess responded that we could sit anywhere we'd like. However, as the server (assistant manager) followed us outside, we were told to move tables from a 6 seat table to a 4 seat table... meanwhile, there was a party of two adults sitting at a 6 seat table near to us. Our neice was already sitting upon this demand and asked why we couldn't sit at this table, which caused an inconvenience. Be aware that the location was not busy with only 1 party outside, excluding us, and around 1/3 of tables taken inside. However, we complied and moved tables only to continue to receive poor service such as delayed refills, sarcastic responses, and a long wait for the check. We addressed our concerns with the server and he shoved it off and did not offer anything to appease the situation. We decided to go inside to get the check and talk with the other manager on site. He did offer a 10% discount but did not seem phased by the initial servers' poor attitude and lack of service. We have been to the ashley phosphate Los Reyes location many times with friends, family, and coworkers, and the service has always been stellar. The management at the rivers location needs retraining.

On a positive note, the food was warm and...

This is second visit here, the first time was in Sept, it was an outstanding experience. My second time was Thursday Nov 5th, Miguel seated me and got my drink for me, (he was an amazing host...very pleasant and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed while waiting on my food and drink. He also came back and cleaned off my table when I was done and ask how was everything. Even with his mask on I could tell he was smiling. ❤️ You could tell he was happy to be of service.

My disappointment came when I received my meal (No, Miguel didn't bring it out), as you can see in the photo, it wasn't much thought that went into the presentation at all. There was very little food on the plate, there was barely any rice... well you can see that right! On my first visit I could barely finish the meal it was very filling and the presentation was beautiful. I hope I will have a better experience on my next trip.

BTW the way, I live an Ashley phosphate road and there is a restaurant 1 mi from my home that I could have gone to but I had such an amazing experience at the Rivers avenue location I decided to come back there. Please make the necessary adjustments that's needed for the correct portion control because leaving out the door I was still hungry and had to get an additional meal somewhere else.

Thank you for your service and I look forward to seeing the change when I return...

It's my favorite Mexican spot to go! The guacamole is seriously the best I've ever had, and the same with the queso melted cheese. I ended up ordering pick three, which was a tamale, tostada, and enchilada. I ate it all it was all so flavorful, and the portions were huge! They also keep bringing chips, which is great. We usually always get churros, after which are always delicious, but we decided on the fried ice cream, and that was ok. I wish it was a little crunchier and had more cinnamon sugar, but we still ate it. It's pretty good ice cream. The price is fantastic for the portions and the delicious food. Always clean and service is always on point.

Updated review: Again, it was delicious! I picked the enchiladas supremas, which i completely devoured, so tender and flavorful. It's one of my favorite dishes. My boyfriend got a shrimp Burrito with fries and a spicy dip, it was fantastic! Big whole pieces of shrimp and the fries were nice and crunchy. I had to get some sopapillas because they are the best. It's so flaky and sweet, just that perfect sweet bite that's extremely addictive. I was able to get a picture of my enchiladas, but just know they were beautiful and...

Ok... so I'm from NY and I must say this has to be one of the best...most authentic Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The staff & customer service here is like no other. I'm just amazed honestly. From the time we placed our order to actually receiving our food...let me tell you...we did not wait long at all. I couldn't believe how fast everything came to our table. Now let's get to the food. Oh my goodness. Everything was delightful and you can just taste the seasoning and authenticity of it all. There's tons of space at this restaurant including outside patio space. Man if I can give them 10 stars 🌟 I most certainly would. Thank you to the staff for making my families experience here memorable. We will be back soon enough. Listen to sum it all up if you love real Mexican food... this is where you need to be. Yes indeed I recommend!

I sent all my food back. I don’t ever send food back, until now. There was no flavor, forget it not having any spice, there wasn’t ANY flavor. I’m pretty sure they just reheat food in a microwave. The refried beans were gritty. The only fresh ingredient was a small sprinkle of lettuce on my ground beef taco that came in a store-bought shell. The chicken burrito, also in a store-bought tortilla. And for some strange reason, they cover their tamales in refried beans and meat, in my case I chose shedded chicken. The chicken at least tasted like chicken. I have made better Mexican food at home, from scratch. Taco Bell is better Mexican food than this place. The service was good, but not enough to overcome the tasteless food.
