On last evening, I really wanted pizza, so I visited Mellow Mushroom at Tanger Outlet. I ordered a medium pizza and 10 wings for almost $40. When I got home, I noticed that I only had 9 wings and they were not crispy as I requested. I called and spoke with the manager whose name I believe is Ally. In a very condescending manner, she said that they probably miscounted. (Wow, 1-10 really isn't that hard.) In my opinion, she was the rudest, nastiest, most unprofessional person that I have ever encountered at Mellow Mushroom. This was my first time at this location. I always visited the Mount Pleasant and downtown location with zero negative issues. She was very condescending in speech by telling me that the wings were not fried so that they would not get extremely krispy. This was never a problem for me at the other locations, I know that they are baked and I like chicken to be completely cooked. She told me that she would refund me for ONE wing. Excuse me! What about the fact that I was completely dissatisfied with the wings? She told me that the only way that she would do anything is for me to return today. It was almost 9:15 p.m. and I wasn't going back out. Then she began saying "Look at you and how you're acting". Deflect, deflect, deflect! Then she told me that she wasn't going to do anything at all for me because she believed that I was supposed to talk to her in a specific manner. Imagine someone with this nasty, trash of a disposition managing anything. I called a different store West Ashley to inquire about a District Manager for Mellow Mushroom. I spoke with Nathan at the West Ashley store and discussed my level of dismay regarding the trashy behavior that I received from Ally. I learned that Chris is the GM at the Tanger Location and I am waiting on his call. The one thing that I refuse to do is reward bad behavior. I will never return to this store outside of getting my money back from Chris, and I will share this nasty experience. If I could give zero stars I would! In my opinion, if this issue is not corrected by management, then it must be tolerated. In my opinion , she was too yucky for this to be her first time being so classless. Not only was Ally's persona the pits, but my pizza box was filthy. I took pictures of the box.

Read moreMy wife and I visited this past Sunday. It took a little bit for the server to come over to get our drink order. We just wanted 2 waters and said we were ready to order. She said she'd take our order when she brought the waters. 10 minutes passed before she came by again (we saw her taking orders and delivering food during that time).
We ordered an spinach & artichoke app and a pizza. A runner brought the appetizer. When we bit into the garlic toast it was completely stale - as if it was yesterday's bread that had been sitting out. It took a while to grab our server's attention. When we told her - she simply asked if we wanted new bread. I said I wanted a whole new one, because by the time the bread comes, the spinach will be cold.
She took it to the kitchen and said a new one would be out in just a couple of minutes. 30 minutes later she brought our pizza - no app. She sat it down and said "Here's your pizza". I asked what happened to the appetizer and she said: "Oh yeah - the kitchen didn't understand what they needed to do, but it'll be out in a few minutes." I told her that is what you told us 30 minutes ago and that now that our pizza was here, it was no longer an appetizer - so just forget about it. I let her know I thought it was terrible service.
When we bit into the pizza it was barely warm. Now we knew what took so long. It had just been sitting. Clearly this was not fresh out of the oven.
The server never returned to the table. I finally caught her rushing by our table with food for another table and asked her to bring us the check. She replied that she told the manager we were upset so he said there was no charge.
Unbelievable - not only was the server lousy, the food bad, but that manager had to comp the meal and didn't have the common sense to walk out to the table to apologize and to find out what happened??!!
This restaurant was poorly run. It is not indicative of Mellow Mushrooms that I have been to, but I will never return...
Read moreI think it’s safe to say one should kind of know what to expect when you walk into Mellow Mushroom at 8:00pm on a week night (our expectations were not extremely high). As we walked through the doors there were two other guests who came in at the same time. The girl at the front did not great any of us and then just walked away. We all looked at each other like “what is happening”. We brushed it off, as I stated earlier with our low expectations it wasn’t overly shocking. We simply wanted to get pizza after playing at topgolf. After finally getting seated we sat at the table for a good 10 minutes who zero interaction from any staff members. They all walked around us like we were invisible. Not a “hello” or even an “I’ll be right with you”. I finally went up to the bartender to ask if I could put our order in there. After I did that another girl came up and said “you’re not my table, but I’ll take your drink order. I’ll skip some of the details for the length of this review. Our server didn’t bother to check on us or even refill drinks. He seemed like he could care less and was off in another world. I had to flag him down once again (you’re probably seeing a pattern here) to see how much longer the pizza was going to be. He told us “not long”. Of course that was his easy answer to brush us off. Finally I told him we need to get this order out as we had a child with us and needed to get going. Again, the experience was very subpar and the service was the bulk of that. The pizza once it FINALLY came out actually was not bad but the service here blows. Managers need to manage and make changes here quickly. I have lived in Charleston since 2017 and have been here a couple times prior without any real issues but after tonight it’s safe to say we won’t be back. Figure out how to treat your guests and take care of them in a timely manner and at least act...
