We needed a room near the convention center, last minute. We booked 15mins before checking in. The hotel is new. It is really nice inside. The lobby/eating area is giant. Many different seating options. Free water and coffee all day. The free breakfast was delicious! Even after eating it 5 days in a row, lol. They offered waffles, pancakes, potatoes, eggs, sausage patties, delicious biscuits, gravy, yogurt, boiled eggs, yogurt, bread/bagels/muffins, cereal options, grits, bananas, oranges and 4 juice options. The best perk, which we were unaware of was free appetizers/snacks every night 530pm-7pm. It included 3 free cocktails, beer and wine!!! This was not Snacks, it was a full on dinner that rotated during the week. It always had hot dogs, nachos chips & cheese, salad, soup and soda. One night it was tacos, with ground beef(think Taco Bell), black beans, rice, corn. Another night it was grilled chicken, steamed veggies, baked potatoes, pasta and Alfredo sauce. Another night it was pulled pork sliders, mac n cheese, beans and chili. They had free popcorn & soda nightly 4pm-8pm. The outdoor pool was super nice, especially with it being 90° out, it even had an outdoor hot tub which guests used in the hot weather. Part of the patio was covered with ceiling fans and offered tables & chairs. There was an outdoor bathroom which is so convenient. The staff were all super nice, especially the manager. We were sad to leave. No other hotel has exceeded our needs or expectations like this one did. Beds were super comfy, except pillows are too fluffy & get instantly flat when being used. We didn't hear people around us. Super amazing shower and water pressure. TV only went to volume 63 and was not loud at all so we added CC to read the words. We only want to stay at Drury hotels...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking forward to our visit to Charleston, however we wanted to find somewhere to stay that was nice and affordable. Drury Plaza Hotel in North Charleston met our desires. The breakfast and kickback both was amazing. Having that, saved a lot on us having to go out to eat nightly for dinner. The only set back I had was breakfast being the same items every morning we were there, however it was very good every morning we eat it. My husband and I loved it, and were so happy we found a place to save on additional costs of food each day. Each night for kickback was something different to choose from except for the one night (of the 5 nights) we were there, and we chose to eat dinner out. We loved the daily room service, as well as the free coffee and popcorn all day as well. We didn't have much time to enjoy the fitness area but it looked nice. We used the pool and hot tub twice and it was wonderful. The staff were wonderful and it seemed as they enjoyed their job, and was happy to help everyone. We thought we would hear a lot of planes above our motel when inside, as the airport is close to the motel. However, we didnt hear but one the entire trip. My husband and I thought it was neat to see them coming in, above the motel when we were outside. It is around 20 to 25 min to the beach (Sullivan's Island) and about 15 or 20 min to (downtown Charleston). You do have to get on the interstate each time, but we never really had any trouble with that. Overall, if I were going back to Charleston and chose a hotel, it would be this one. This hotel is new, but I see it thriving well for many years to come....thank you Drury Plaza Hotel North Charleston for an unforgettable and pleasant...
Read moreDrury has a great set of amenities, from their kickback evenings (with provided food that generally was appetizing, and three drinks of choice from a simple but not extremely limited menu). The hotel itself is new and it shows within the cleanliness and modernization of the rooms including a very large bathroom and shower that is very convenient for a beach city.
The staff weren't overly friendly or extremely prideful in their work (don't get me wrong not a bad thing they were just more on the efficient side) apart from the Kitchen + Bar staff and the staff that covered the free drinks at the kickback times. You could tell they actually enjoyed speaking with people and having fun and that was great to witness.
As far as the room goes there were two things that I desired a tad but could be remedied if you know about it. The plugs available are minimum and a little inaccessible with only two-three USB ports available with it being only on one side of the beds and at the desk under the TV. It was terrible but something to note if you have several items that need charging.
The other is the TV isn't a smart TV and relies on the satellite television channel guide type of viewing. Which isn't terrible but I've started to stay at more and more places with these available now and with their newness into factor felt like it would've been just something included.
If I was truly nitpicking also the actual entrance/exit to the hotel is in a veryyy bad traffic spot and when (or I suppose if) you're going toward Charleston from the hotel the crossing of the street and onto the highway is a little precarious but really nothing the hotel could...
