I stayed with my boyfriend here on military orders, so we did not book this hotel ourselves, and I would never have booked it myself based on previous reviews. We (miserably) stayed here for 12 nights.
-The first impression, it looked like a nice place. The lobby looked gorgeous, and we were greeted warmly and immediately. The first thing that threw me off was breakfast was not included. A little bit of a pain, because anything off the menu was waaaaay too expensive for a little 3-star place, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
-The room looked nice, but there are no dressers, not even any kind of desk drawers. Staying for 12 days, it would have been nice to unpack and settle in. The thing that threw me off the most was the ceilings looked god-awful ugly and as if they might collapse at any moment. I went to take a shower and simply touched the shower handle, and it fell off onto the floor. Also, the air conditioner NEVER shuts off, even if you hit the off button. The fan will never stop running and not only is it extremely annoying to constantly have that in the background, it's a waste of energy.
-Our room did not have a microwave. We asked about it, because we were staying for a while and it took THREE DAYS of us harassing them to finally get one put in. We talked to the front desk the first night and were told "tomorrow". Tomorrow came and went, so we asked again and were told "tonight". Well "tonight" came and went, and we asked AGAIN and then proceeded to stay down there until someone showed up to bring a microwave to our room.
-Laundry on the 5th floor only takes quarters, but neither the front desk or bar carries change and was extremely not helpful at all.
-The "Privacy" sign to hang on the doorknob promised that you would get a $5 voucher as a reward for refusing housekeeping service, but we only got about half the ones we should have gotten.
-The coffee maker in the room was so cheap and old. It wouldn't drain properly and spilled coffee all over the cup and counter. The refrigerator settings are a scam, max or min setting, it froze our milk. There's no vending or ice on the floors, you have to go all the way down to the lobby.
-The only saving grace here was the bar. The bartender was super chill and knew what he was doing, and the drinks were really good and reasonably priced. But there are so many good places to get drinks in Charleston, it's not anything special.
Overall, this place wants to be more than 3-stars but is failing. There's literally a Hampton in its backyard, I recommend going...

From the moment I stepped into the vibrant lobby, I knew I was in for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The hotel's design immediately catches your eye – it's sleek, contemporary, and full of energetic touches that make it stand out from typical hotel chains. The lobby lounge, with its comfortable seating and inviting W XYZ® bar, was a fantastic spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Whether I wanted a casual drink or just a place to relax and catch up on emails, the atmosphere was always just right. My room was equally impressive. The "loft-inspired" design is truly a breath of fresh air. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the modern amenities like the 42-inch flat-screen TV and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi made it easy to stay connected and entertained. I particularly appreciated the plug & play connectivity station, a small but significant detail that made charging and connecting devices effortless. Beyond the stylish aesthetics, the Aloft truly shines in its practical offerings. The free airport shuttle was a huge convenience, taking away any stress about transportation to and from Charleston International Airport. Its proximity to the airport and the Charleston Area Convention Center is a major plus for travelers, and being within walking distance of the Tanger Outlet Mall and numerous restaurants made dining and shopping incredibly easy. The indoor pool and 24-hour fitness center were also much appreciated, offering great options for staying active or simply unwinding. And for those traveling with furry friends, the pet-friendly policy is a fantastic bonus. What truly elevated my stay, however, was the consistently friendly and helpful staff. Every interaction, from check-in to asking for local recommendations, was met with genuine warmth and efficiency. They were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests had a pleasant experience. While some might prefer a more traditional hotel experience, if you're looking for a fresh, energetic, and convenient place to stay in North Charleston, the Aloft is an excellent choice. It’s perfect for both business and leisure travelers who appreciate modern comforts and a vibrant atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and look forward to...
Read moreGuys, take your money to spend at another hotel property, because this one isn't it.
I stayed only 2 days. On day 1, which was a Thursday, I asked the front desk staff if they could provide me with change so that I could wash my clothes in their laundry room facilities.
I asked several times throughout the day.
The staff repeatedly told me that they had no change for the laundry room, that the manager would likely go to a bank on the next day so that the hotel could have quarters on hand for us guests.
I called down to the front desk on the next morning, bright and early on Friday a.m.
I was told repeatedly that the manager would not be going to the bank to get change to provide to the guests, and that the soonest that management planned to fulfill that particular need was Monday of the next week.
The front desk staff then offered to have the hotel van driver take me to a GAS STATION to get change for myself, if I wanted to do my laundry in their facilities.
I told her no, that's okay.
I then had to get online and order a pair of loungewear pants from the nearby Walmart and had them express delivered to me so that I could at least have SOMETHING clean to wear.
I checked out the next morning and I officially hate ghetto things. I especially hate PAYING MONEY for ghetto things.
Also, the room wasn't all that clean, the bathroom floor was gross - it hadn't been mopped in ages. I felt like I was walking on a public building floor. That's how dirty it was. Additionally, the hotel housekeeping staff had thrown the hotel's bed sheets out on the ground on the 2nd floor hallway, and they laid out in the hallway, ON THE HIGH TRAFFIC HALLWAY FLOOR, all day and through to the evening on the day that I checked in. I wish I had taken a photo, it was just ghetto as hell. It looked like a run-down college dorm hallway, not a hotel hallway where you pay money while on vacation. The hotel's white bed sheets were just thrown out on the dirty ground like Aloft Charleston is shiny on the outside, but the projects on the inside. So clearly there is no concern regarding Covid-19 best practices for cleanliness, though the Marriott.com website states, "Committed to Clean: We have elevated our rigorous standards and protocols to create a 'new normal' in hospitality."
No the hell you haven't!
Save yourself the headache and look for a better hotel option. There are several others in the North Charleston / airport area that I'm sure would appreciate your patronage and treat you like you deserve...
