May 29, 2022 Mom got the Cubano (not $10.99 but $12.99 "Oh. We just raised our prices yesterday. We have to print new menus.") She said it was really good.
Dad also enjoyed his sausage, onions, and peppers sandwich (not $8.99 but $9.99).
Daughter said her chicken parm sandwich (not $9.99 but $12.99) was dry, and the cheese wasn't melted, though it tasted fine.
"Roast beef sandwich" is only the meat and the roll. $9. Oops, I mean $10. Lettuce? Tomato? Onion? Each is an additional $0.25. So is mayonnaise. Son said it was good though.
Cheesesteak meat & cheese ("I don't know what kind.") wrapped in pizza dough and cooked, kept cold on the counter. Labeled "$11." "I'll have one of those please." Hands it to me cold, charges $12. "Can you please warm this up a little?" "No, sorry, our kitchen is really busy right now." Three other people are in the establishment ordering, and I just ordered three hot sandwiches, but this one wouldn't fit in the oven with them, I guess?
So 5 sandwiches to go and abysmal service cost $64.46. Just go...
Read moreThis is probably my favorite place in OCNJ... their food is top notch.
What I find most interesting is they don't have a broad selection, but everything they have is 10/10. You can tell they focus their efforts and attention on making everything on their menu perfection.
Their breakfast sandwiches, especially on bagels, are amazing. Also the pepperoni rolls (if you get one before they sell out) and their macaroni salad are so good I think about them all year round until my next vacation to OCNJ.
Only constructive feedback: the online ordering link on their website isn't obvious to find. The web standard is right on the home page but for Bennie's it's behind the menu link. I am guilty of ordering elsewhere a few times when in a hurry because it's not on the home page so I forget...
Read moreIf I could give this place half a star I would just for the sfoiatelles. I ordered a chicken parm with brischetta and fresh mozz. The chicken was slightly burnt, the brischetta was dry, sparse and umsrasoned and the bread was soggy and tasteless. The meatball parm was also dry, flavorless and had a measely slice of unidentifiable cheese on half. Again the bread was a big disappointment. It's pretty sad when you can get a meatball parm from wawa which tastes fresher and better at half the cost. The chicken parm was the biggest disappointment. I also ordered a stack of fried eggplant which was disgusting. It tasted like it was fried in bacon grease and bread crumbs were gritty. Never again. If this is what people consider Italian food they don't know Jack $h^+. What a total...
