Grassroots Music Store — Local services in Ocean City

This place is so lively that I could spend hours there. Personally, I collect compact discs but boy were there vinyl records. Also guitars which I semi cared about. As for the Cds, some of best finds were in the $1.00 bargain bin—bearing such classics as Fleetwood Mac Live 97 and Lady Gaga The Fame Monster. I sure wanted to buy that live one but somehow the employee on the clock misplaced the disc. But I forgive him, because he is the perfect man to be manning the front desk. His vibe is unmatched. I may or may not have caused the most awkward interaction ever involving card and cash but he didn’t even bat an eye. The highlighted cds in the middle of the store are certainly more expensive, but house rare discs like Taylor Swift debut Japanese deluxe version and Thompson Twins greatest remixes. Let me just say, I would pay the average of $6.00 for some of those johns. While a different bargain box mainly contained obscure latin jazz cds, we found the coveted “in my room” by Jacob Collier for a buck, going for 50 times that on the ebay. Even if you don’t care for physical collectibles in the form of sound vibrations, you may be attracted to the various devices that bend said sound vibrations into controlled noises—those being guitars, ukes, banjos, and one suspicious stringed instrument i’ve never seen—surrounded by picks, amps, cables, and electronics. I was disappointed to hear that some had a negative experience at this store as it relates to the staff. They definitely know their stuff here and, just like any music store, it can seem as though they are being short when their knowledge is so superior.

Grassroots has a great vinyl collection - both old and new stuff. Both used and unopened as well. This place probably has the best selection of vinyls south of Atlantic City (but I'm not sure, I don't really leave Ocean City).

I went in after holding a yard sale to dump the rest of my CDs and Vinyls. He gave me more of a fair price than I expected.

This music store is amazing. Chris went above and beyond in helping with a bass guitar for my daughter. He discussed all the options and provided information in a way that a non musician (me) understood.

It is clear that he is passionate about his career. His enthusiasm is contangious and had me even wanting to get into being a musician!
