Very unhappy with the experience my family and I had at Clancy's a few nights ago. Though there were numerous issues throughout our meal, this was the most upsetting one: My boyfriend has severe food allergies (dairy, eggs nuts) and we made this VERY clear with our waitress. She was very nice about it and assured us she would talk to the kitchen staff about dishes that would be safe for him to order. She then came back and started talking about the restaurants gluten free options. This was the first red flag; He is not gluten free, so we reexplained to her to ask about milk, eggs, and nuts. We were then told there was definitely nothing harmful in the fish tacos, so he ordered those. When they came out, he felt suspicious about the breading on the fish so he asked her nicely to check one more time for anything he was allergic to. Turns out, there was egg in them. So after that mishap, he did not want to take chances with anything else but he was assured (again) that the teriyaki chicken would be fine for him to eat but instead, it ends up coming out with buttered vegetables. That was two dishes that would've resulted in a night in the hospital and both of those dishes were initially said to be harm free. I do not think it was the waitresses fault but ultimately, the kitchen staff seemed ignorant about allergies. If you are a preparing food, you should be knowledgeable on what exactly you are cooking! ESPECIALLY, if it is brought to your attention someone has severe allergies. While it can be challenging finding safe food to eat when you have strict allergies, this was by far the worst Restaurant experience my boyfriend has had. He ended up not eating at all. Therefore, If you have food allergies Clancy's is NOT the...
Read moreProbably the worst choice to eat on the boardwalk. It is extremely overpriced. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the waitor explained that it doesn’t come with fries or anything which was an extra $5 after already paying $11 for just a pulled pork sandwich. Little did I know that the sandwich actually comes with chips. I would have never ordered fries for $5 and he convinced the other two people dining with me to also get fries even though the serving is definitely too big for one person? The fries were also just crispy pieces of potatoes which were absolutely disgusting and I ate no more than 5 fries, thanks. After the 50 year old waitor continuously and very obviously hit on me and my two 17 year old friends and insisting he would give $5 to someone dining with me if they finished all their mac and cheese????? To top it all off, they charged me $5 more after I already paid $20 for pulled pork and fries that I didn’t even eat and tipped $4 on my card. Thank you so much I will never go here again. Not to mention that the rest of the staff stared at us while we walked out of the door without a simple have a good day? how is this place this is business? probably because the only people who go here are 60+ since there isn’t many other sit in restaurants on the boardwalk....
Read moreExcellent experience! Hostess and waitresses went above and beyond in terms of service. Dined here first time ever for breakfast on June 20th, we were seated quickly, attended to quickly, and served quickly. Food was absolutely delicious (I had the breakfast burrito, and a side of potatoes - so good!!) It was such a great experience that we returned that evening for dinner. They had options that appealed to everyone, even with a limited menu due to Covid. The hostess was very helpful in getting our names down for a table (super busy!) and within about an hours time, our table was ready. When I went to check on our table, the hostess was being berated by a woman who was lying and talking down to her in all attempts to get seated with her friends immediately. She handled the situation extremely professionally, and kept her composure the entire time in what must have been a super stressful situation for her. Once seated, our waitress tended to us very quickly and within moments we all had drinks. We placed a few appetizers that were also quickly brought out to us, as were our main courses. Food was absolutely top notch, and we will DEFINITELY be back the next time we come to OCNJ. Highly impressed not only by the food, but also by the speedy and...
