PJ Buckets -Ocean City NJ — Restaurant in Ocean City

I'm a single Mom on a budget and after 9 summers in OC, I finally decided to treat myself to a seafood dinner. I will preface this by saying that I have never left a negative review. I literally tipped boardwalk shops 5$ for a rock hard pretzel, and when I'm told the mozzarella sticks exploded at Jillys, that's cool, we will take them, because you guys all work hard to make the summer awesome!

After so much pondering of the menu, I ordered the king crab bucket. I subbed veggies.

Only one crab cluster had an actual piece of crabmeat. The other legs were hollow, and the mussels and clams were tiny. I added scallops, which I could hardly find in the bowl. Unfortunately, the veggies looked like they were from a bag of frozen stuff with the corrugated carrots and tiny pieces of broccoli.

This will be our new "go-to" restaurant is Ocean City NJ. We had 🦀 rangoons as an appetizer and they were perfect! We each did a build-your-own boil. I chose Louisiana flavor (which was exactly what you'd expect, Old Bay and some heat) and my husband chose New England flavor which was that cozy, butter and parsley comfort food flavor. Both were absolutely delicious and we are stuffed! Homemade cornbread was also yummy dipped in the broth. Portions were very generous! As a side note... if you want to go out for a romantic date, this might not appear to be the place because it's bright and not cozy, but I assure you, an amazing meal with fast friendly service is the best way to start a good date night. Looked good from the outside. Menu looked great! We were one of only 3 tables in the restaurant and yet we waited about 80 minutes for our meal. After about 45 minutes in, our waiter told us he was sorry for the wait and the food was coming soon. After another 20 mins, I told the waiter we were leaving, but he begged us to stay saying our food was just about ready. I left my family to walk to get cash at an atm which I was planning to leave on the table so we could walk out. When I got back food was finally on the table. And after all that I can honestly say the food tasted bad. The shrimp and corn soup was overly seasoned. The gumbo was unappealing looking and bland. The cornbread was bland and more like cake.
