Read moreWe came here on the first day of our vacation. We live in San Diego and have a lot of Mexican food options, but this taqueria was so good we came back the next four days! Our favorite dish was vegetarian nachos...huge portion, well balanced, chips were delicious, all freshly made and crisp colorful veggies including fresh romaine which is healthier and more expensive than the standard iceberg lettuce. Cheese enchiladas were also good with huge portions and garnished with lettuce, tomato and guacamole. They have a fresh salsa bar with pickled carrots, onions and jalapeños, fresh dried oregano, chopped onions and cilantro. I like that the salsa is in squeeze bottles you can take to your table so you have all you need without wasting extra.
The establishment is quaint a definite mom and pop joint with Mexican tiled floor...not a great area with a lot of transients but close to the beach and a few outside tables. The employees are all friendly, engaging, accommodating to special requests like a side of enchilada sauce with no extra nickel and dime charges...they just want you to be happy and come back (which we did!). The service is incredibly fast. Try the homemade cinnamon and sugar crips on your way out. We...
Read moreThis has been our family fave for years. This location especially. Family members and friends have commuted from Mission Valley, Penasquitos, Escondido, Los Angeles, Spring Valley, La Jolla, Mira Mesa, Poway, National City, Rancho Bernardo, West Covina, Pacific Beach, and Palm Springs all claiming their burrito spot is the best, but then we take them here and win them over everytime. Something about their tortillas...so yummy... Its hard to explain. The food is good EVEN without the sauce. Thats how you make a true comparison. They do however keep the sauces and condiments fresh and cold and even have dry oregano, peppers, carrots etc. to customize your food. Best of all, their burritos are on steroids. Fact: they've always been consistent with the way they make their food (for me at least). Fact: they've never overcooked my chips or skimped on the meat. Fact: Ive never had a negative attitude or bad service. I want to note the location is just as awesome. You got some beach, there's a bar, a barber shop across the street, a Skate area, liquor store, dessert place, Boba shop, Surf Museum, movie theater and dairy queen...
