Honest review: with room for improvement.
Upon arrival we had a high expectation, as we had heard many good things and saw great reviews. There can be a wait, and they do use a QR code posted near the front door to reserve seating. Upon walking in the front door, there are signs to wait to be seated and to proceed to hostess station, which is just the counter near the kitchen. When we walked up we were handed menus and told where to sit, but was not seated, stepping away from traditional host to seat preparations we were here for the food experience, so we weren't going to mark them down for it. At our table we quickly engaged conversation with other tables and asking recommendations. The clear cut winners were the fried noodles, dumplings and their Ramen bowls. We settled on an order of pan fried colorful dumplings, fried noodles with chicken and a fried noodle with beef. The noodles were at the table within 10 minutes (even with busy lunch) the pan fried noodles with chicken was delicious. Chicken was generous, tender and the noodles were obviously fresh. The vegetables were not over or undercooked and their peanut sauce is delicious as well. The fried noodles with beef came to the table partially cooked, so we sent back the order and swapped to a fried rice combo order. I won't include a review of the noodles with beef as the hot/cold bites really ruined it for me. By that point we had not received our order of dumplings and inquired to an expected arrival time. We were told by the management that because of the nature of them being fresh and time to cook, it isn't uncommon for them to be delayed. The Fried rice combo and dumplings arrived to the table side at the same time. The fried rice combination was phenomenal! The entire dish was perfectly cooked, flavor was great and with the shrimp, the plate was not overwhelmed with shrimp flavors. The portion is generous. The dumplings are a solid pick as well. The colorful combination comes with the full suit of flavors and all were perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and we enjoyed their sauce. The sauce looks spicy but in my opinion it has very little heat. Our server only checked on us one time, and they were busy, but it would be nice to have a check up after food is served, and at least one more time for drink refills, or updates on food still coming. The seating is spacious, the light covers are very cool and it does feel like a proper Ramen/noodles restaurant. Disclaimer: The restaurant is new, it's in need of more staff and they are advertising for Hire. With just a few adjustments and depending on staff during a visit, I'm sure this will/has/is be/been, a solid lunch/dinner spot. I would still recommend giving this place a shot. For 2 people, with 2 entrees, 1 dumpling, 1 drink and 1 water we spent 60.00, so I would say this is right on par with any other noodle restaurant, and this place hand makes this doughs and noodles from scratch in view of the entire seating area. We will be back for a follow up review in a month or so. Warning: if you have a peanut and or a pea allergy, this will not be a great place to visit. Much of their menu...
Read moreFood; I ordered beef noodle in soup (spicy) and dry oil beef noodle but replaced beef with tofu. I couldn't believe a tofu noodle was $19 ($15 original+$4 additional charge for replacing beef with tofu). How can tofu be more expensive than meat? And it wasn't a lot of tofu also. They messed up my order and made the beef soup non-spicy which is fine because i could add my own chili paste. Both noodles were very salty. Noodle is a bit too soft for my liking instead of being chewy. My husband got food poisoning after eating the dry oil beef noodle with tofu. He was throwing up about an hour after eating.
Ordering; it was quite chaotic to order. They were busy on a Friday night. Many people were waiting and their cleaning cart could barely move between tables. I don't know if it's safe for fire code. They took my name and phone number for my Togo order but they typed in the wrong area code. After I placed an order, they told me it'll be a few mins wait. Then, they told me to wait outside for my order. It took about half an hour to get my Togo order and I asked the server lady how will I be notified when my order is ready. She wasn't friendly and told me to go ask at the counter. I went back to ask at the counter how I will be alerted when my order is ready. They checked with the kitchen and told me it wasn't ready. I don't know how long I would have to wait outside for my Togo order if there was no systematic alert. What was the point of getting my phone number of that wasn't how they were going to alert me about my order?
Service; As mentioned above, the server lady wasn't very friendly. She should have known how they alert customers waiting for Togo order. Having to wait outside in harsh weather would be terrible but that's what they're asking customers to do.
Parking; Parking was so weird. There definitely was not enough parking for all the customers. There was a drive through lane where they don't do drive through which was confusing. They should have removed that to accommodate more parking spots.
Environment; tight spots and tables are too close to each other. Not sure if it's aligned with fire code safety when a cleaning cart can barely move around between tables. I don't know how a wheelchair person go move...
Read moreWell, this was our visit to Oklahoma City in a long time and we were going to go to one place but when I figured out that the dim sum is only reserved for the weekend, we changed our plans and ended up over at noodles and dumplings. Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is really good. The taste is there. The dumplings are definitely there. We didn't go for any noodles this time but what we did get was the scallion pancake, and two types of dumplings, one with the soup inside and the combination which are the various colors and then we got the bow bun with the barbecue pork inside and the fried Chicken with lemon sauce and with fried rice. Wow it was really good. Everything was really good but what really made the experience. The best thing other than the food was the customer service from the moment you enter the door to going to your table to your waitress. Wow! Amazing! Our waitress was very professional friendly. I mean all the things that you would expect and it just makes the food taste even better now. On the other side of that I'm used to getting more with the scallion pancake and the fried rice could have been seasoned more than they'd had the color on it, but it was good especially when you mix some of that lemon sauce with it. Wow, wife really enjoyed it. So did I. We're debating when we returned to the city if we should go back here or try something new. But I really want to try something different but another part of me just wants to come back and order the same exact thing again. Like I said, everything was really good. We enjoyed ourselves, the the greeting, the professionalism, and the food. The quality was really good. What I suggest is just listening to whatever suggestions that your waitress offers you. You can't go wrong. Great atmosphere as well....
