This review I removed from my inactive account my visit was on June 20,2018
Disliked it when it was Martin's bbq, thought because the name changed it improved, I was wrong. The beans were good. The rice with salchicha was good. The steak was not even 1 real piece of steak it was full of onions. Not even half a cup of meat. I told her to please not put alot of onions and she would pick up onions put it in and the meat it was like she was scared to put steak and would add little shredded pieces. I asked her for rice with steak and she closed my order I looked up at the menu and asked her wait, don't I get another side with the meal? She's like if you want... like really? Smh.. she didn't even ask me what I want for my second side. Wasn't assertive and attentive at all she then added the macaroni salad . This price is overpriced and with the lack of steak I would've been better eating at bravo and sedanos that would've been half priced. The icing on the cake... When I got in the car to check the food the macaroni salad was thrown on top on my steak . Nasty. I was so mad, I just told my kids to eat it . I also bought cuajito it was ok. Nothing special.. I paid almost 17.00 ... never again. I def won't ever return and don't recommend there's way better places that serve pr food. I saw the guineos escabeche and was grossed out was mushy with big pieces of green peppers and onions.
Response to owner. I've been to MANY restaurants your response is as if I've never ate at a take out. I specifically said in English and Spanish about the onions. I should've been asked after being served the meat what 2 sides I would like... Not assume I wanted only rice. Maybe if you trained your employees how to serve food properly they would know you don't top off meat with macaroni salad. That's why I took a pic... very clearly shows the macaroni salad was thrown on the meat and didn't tip over as you stated. For a business owner your explanation clearly sucked as picky I am with my food my food just doesn't SPILL OVER . The service was horrible from the moment I went in. Better train your employees in customer service and how to serve food . Also the rice was a tad undercooked. I went in to eat Spanish food not Chinos.
Response to owner...Dont know what you're talking about 3 sides. I ordered rice with salchicha , steak...and macaroni salad...what the salchichas in the rice was the 3rd side?. I paid extra for the cuajo and like 1.00 for the avocado.... 17.00 for that meal isnt not getting charged extra. I notice you respond with fixing the problem but yet reason it by my actions and explain that due to my acceptance and misinformation lead to causing the server to act as such. I'd never go there again just because of your unprofessional responses and lies, your responses suck just as...
Read moreI ordered online for a 8:20pm pick up. Arrived at 8:36pm to find half my order done and sitting on the counter with no temperature control, with one of the items being macaroni salad made with mayo just sitting out at risk of getting salmonella and potentially giving someone food poisoning. I proceed to speak to a young man who was by the register and I advise him I'm there to pick up an order and I believed it was the one on the counter he goes over to it and says the mofongo was not ready yet. I responded ok. He just stared at the receipt and said nothing. So I said ok I'm just trying to get my food that's prepaid for. He then said well I can do a regular mofongo since I don't have the tri fongo ready. I said whatever I just need to get the food. He then said it will be 7 min for the tri fongo. I said once again ok. He then proceeded to throw around things as he is placing it to fry with an attitude. A family entered and he left the items for the mofongo to the side and continued to assist the new customers that walked in. He made me wait another 25 min to clear the restaurant of other clients to then finish the tri fongo. Once finished he threw the container on the other counter to walk over to the pre served items sitting in a near by counter top to bag everything up. I asked for a manager as I wanted my money back instead and he said no one is here you have to come in the morning. Horrible attitude and the worse customer service experience from this place and Milton whom was the young man. As a near by hotel manager we used to recommend this place to our guest that wanted Spanish food but with the competition in the area and this experience. I have instructed my staff to no longer suggest this restaurant. We are recommending Made in Puerto Rico that is in same shopping center. El Cafetal or El Rinconcito all options in the area for our guest and still able for us to provide transportation to. Never again.
To top it off they have a ceiling leak right above the cold food station. And they placed a small container to catch the water and with the container being half full the drops where splashing water out of it on to the food in that area. Health department needs to visit them as per this and the staff don't seem to have food...
Read moreMatt’s BBQ is the best Latin food experience in all of Florida. The food is excellent (I highly recommend the pollo guisado and white rice), the service is above and beyond, and the atmosphere is equal parts modern and nostalgic to my childhood in Puerto Rico.
Upon our first visit, my (now) wife and I knew instantly it was the restaurant we wanted to cater for our wedding. The food was just that good. We had tried at least four other Puerto Rican restaurants, but this one was by far the best we have ever tried since my family and I moved to the State.
The day of the wedding, the caterers arrived and set up for the reception dinner later that day. The venue was unexpectedly smaller than we expected, between the space needed to set up the food and the rest of the things we had planned. The owner was dedicated enough to suggest setting up for the dinner serving, then taking it back down when it was done, to give the needed space back to the dance floor. He is just that hard of a worker.
When dinner time came, I realized too late that I forgot to bring the disposable dishes and utensils we needed from my house. The owner once again saved the day by grabbing his emergency dish and cutlery kit that he had in his car. We were thrilled and continued to have the best day of our lives thanks to him.
To anyone reading this, Matt’s BBQ is a great place to eat, and an even better customer service experience. My wife and I are happily married, and one of the best choices we made for that special day, was hiring this great restaurant as the...
