This was my first time eating from Meson Sandwiches and I must say that the food is definitely fresh and definitely high quality as a sandwich shop. I ordered one of the Holiday Combos which was the Island Trio with Ham, Chicken, and Pork. The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and surprisingly very soft, even the bread. It was clearly prepared in such a way that the sandwich was easy to eat and would melt in your mouth, rather than have to claw through hard bread. The fries were quite good as well: thick, soft insides, yet slightly Crunchy skin. I ordered a coffee since their website advertised that they take coffee seriously, and the Regular Coffee with Caramel syrup I ordered was pretty good: sweetness just right, not too little or too much with the sweetness taste.
The food at this Meson Sandwiches location by the Orlando International Airport is really good, hands down. However, there were some things about the customer service that could use improvements:
I'm not sure what Meson Sandwiches is trying to market itself as. If it's looking to be a premium quality fast food service, then the drive thru lines need to be a bit more efficient/faster. I waited in line about 22 minutes from the moment I got in the drive thru line, to when I left after paying/receiving my order. Most fast food restaurants with drive thrus can probably get orders out during the busy lunch hour (got in line around 11:30am) in less time, if not half. I can understand if it takes time for the sandwiches to be made since the ingredients are clearly fresh and of great quality. However, if the process they use to cook the sandwiches to give its soft quality takes time, then a little bit more time waiting is definitely worth it.
I'm also unsure if the slow movement of the drive thru line was also being exacerbated by orders from people dining-in, from drive-in orders, and online as well, if they accept that too. It's possible they could be overwhelming their kitchen line and may need to focus on fewer methods of taking orders.
Because it was lunch hour and was busy, when I was placing my order at the drive thru, I got the impression that the cashier I spoke with was either trying to save time or was trained to upcharge customers. What I mean by this was I asked if I could order a flavored coffee with my holiday combo, but I was told I could only order soda and other soft drinks with it. I was of course able to order the coffee separately alongside my combo with a soda. What's insulting about this is that most other fast food restaurants are very accommodating with drink substitutions not included with combos usually, and you just pay an additional fee to add another drink type to your order. At this Meson Sandwiches, for some reason, you're not allowed to switch out a soda with a coffee for a combo you might be ordering. Quite frankly, it's counter-intuitive by not allowing customers to order what they want and just comes off as a nickel and dimeing cash grab. The final slap in the face was when the cashier failed to even ask me what soda I wanted and just gave me anything. I found out after coming back to my hotel room that it was a Dr. Pepper; I would have appreciated if I was given the choice to ask for a Root Beer instead. However, I will say that the price and value of a combo with the coffee is very competitive. $1.99 for a flavored coffee that appears to be the size of a Mini at any Starbucks that would normally be $3+, and a holiday combo special that was $9.99, for a total of $13.29 with tax: a pretty decent deal.
Overall, the Sandwiches at this Meson Sandwiches are really good. The coffee appear to be pretty good as well. It's just the time in the drive thru line that needs to be improved on, as well as improving the communication of the cashiers with confirming customer orders, and just giving customers more freedom to choose what drinks they would like with...
Read moreI give it a f. I had to ask for a cup of water five times when I placed my order? Also my sandwich ordered with no mayo and no margerine had mayo and margerine on it . My wife took the sandwich back and repeated six times no mayo and no margerin. Jimminy freaking Christmas. But wait, the fries were room temperature. We had to return those as well. I stood in front of the counter holding the two orders of fries and was ignored by five employees. Teach your order takers to listen and if you are going to price your menu to where your average check is around $10, at least serve it correctly and hot. You may need to raise your prices to compensate for these two costumers not returning. Not to mention your food cost from making orders twice. We came back to try again. Cashier delivered zero smiles and plenty of attitude. Someone needs to teach her to say thank you or if not at least you're welcome when she is thanked. She now knows to do niether. I am hoping that she gets my order correct this time. The water cups are the size of pee samples one gets at the doctor. I'm sorry that I drink water in the evening instead of a caffeine fill soda because I don't want to be awake all night. Sandwich made wrong again. Fries cold again. Maybe if the AC wasn't blasted to where the dining area is the same temperature as a walk in cooler the food would be hot. Not to mention your bottom line P. and L. from your power bill. What's up with the water cups? I do not drink soda at night because of the caffeine so I order water. The cup is so small that I thought that they were asking for a pee...
Read morePurchased 2 anytime breakfast meals from here Saturday, March 13. Having never had breakfast here before I felt rushed by the staff when selecting my choice breakfast. In addition to being rush the line was long and the total wait time was estimation 15mins. All this included of the two breakfast meals one was a combo which included hash browns and it was not until I got home to open the meals that I was disappointed to see I had no hash browns. I called the location’s number and there was no answer. When arriving there the next morning, I spoke to the “manager”, Johnathan after waiting 3 minutes for him to get off his cell phone. I explained my disappointment to Johnathan and requested hash browns. He requested a receipt which I did not have on me because I came to get breakfast from their neighboring restaurant not Meson’s again. I gave Johnathan the dollar amount and emphasized that it was a drive through order on March 13th. I suggested looking up the purchase as I did not have lottery numbers this was the amount my card was charged matching the receipt not with me. Johnathan just told me that that would be too much work and said policy was to bring a receipt. Being the food was overpriced, the wait was long, and I did not get my full meal. The fight for the hash browns was not worth it and as a business masters student I see this is a very sad example of...
