Wanted cake to satisfy my sweet tooth and decided to give this place a try. I have had Brazilian cake before, so I knew it was going to be sweet and all about chocolate.
Unfortunately, service really is not great. It seems that they only cater to Brazilians or people that speak Portuguese. We were not acknowledged and it took a while to get someone that spoke English help us with our order. I wanted a certain slice of cake and the only thing that I needed to know was if it had nuts. The girl that finally took care of us (I did not remember her name) was super nice, friendly, attentive, more than happy to answer any questions and made good suggestions.
As for the cake, it is sold by weight (by kilo). It was pricey and the slice you get is based on how it had been cut (horizontally or vertically). I was a bit disappointed that this is not specified until you decide to get the slice. I am all about the experience and don't mind paying but I don't like unpleasant surprises. Plus, the bad service upon entering, unfortunately set the tone for a bad experience.
The cakes are on the sweet side and pretty decadent. After a couple of bites, you will be good to go. You could either order it to go and eat it in a couple of days or if you have a sweet tooth go for the whole thing. Most have mouse made of white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Nido (powdered milk), condensed milk, passion fruit, strawberries or dulce de leche. They do serve coffee and small Brazilian bites as well.
Not sure I will be back, but already added it to the...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Sodiê Doces for years, but I have to say, the lack of mustard is absolutely ridiculous and completely baffling. How can a place that serves food—particularly snacks like coxinhas and pastéis—completely ignore such a basic condiment that nearly EVERYONE enjoys? It’s as if you went to a pizza place and they told you there’s no olive oil, or a diner without ketchup.
This is NOT a minor issue. I’ve brought it up multiple times, and each time I get the same dismissive response: "We don’t carry mustard." It's unbelievable for a food business to ignore such a simple customer expectation, and it really speaks to a lack of attention to detail. It’s not just about personal preference—it’s about giving customers a full experience, which includes basic condiments like mustard.
For such a simple item, why not just add mustard to the menu? I’m sure it wouldn’t break the bank, but the lack of it has been a huge turnoff. I’ve recommended this place to many friends over the years, but I always have to add, “They don’t have mustard, though.” It’s time for Sodiê to step up and make some basic improvements. A simple addition like mustard could make a huge difference in customer satisfaction.
I’ll continue to enjoy your cakes and snacks, but until this issue is addressed, my experience will always be marred by this oversight. It’s a shame, but I can’t keep recommending a place that’s ignoring...
Read moreI always come to buy cakes for each and every one of the birthdays or events of my family members, even though I live far away, approximately an hour from my house. Today, for the first time, the two people attending had quite an unexpected attitude. First, I asked for a bag; second, I didn’t realize the cake I ordered had coconut and asked if they could change it (I had just finished paying); and lastly, I ordered a cappuccino and didn’t know the Brazilian one had chocolate, which I don’t mind but asked because I wasn’t expecting the flavor. The way they responded and looked at each other, with true annoyance and discomfort, I really didn’t understand. Such bad service from these two people—how uncomfortable and unprofessional. I am a very respectful and kind person, and at no point did I say anything to warrant their attitude. If they’ve had a bad day, they should know they are dealing with customers, other people who don’t deserve to be treated this way. I will continue being a customer because I love everything they make, but I believe they should take better care of their image and how some of their employees...
