Wow, after so many good reviews, I was really disappointed in this place. I came at lunchtime, and it was packed - was seated right away but got one of the last tables. Took them a while to take my order, but given this is clearly a fast-casual place that gets a big lunch crowd, I thought it would be fairly quick. They brought out a small, simple salad (which ended up being the highlight of the meal) and my drink pretty soon after. But then I waited. And waited. And waited. After about 20 mins, the server came over and asked if I had received my food yet. Then I waited some more. Another 10 mins and nothing. Another 5 and she came to tell me it was almost ready. At this point, I asked for them to package it to go instead. Another 5 mins, and I decided to get up and try to pay at least. It was finally ready. I didn't have time to review the check, so I just paid enough to cover it plus a small tip in cash. When I finally got a chance to eat it, it was so underwhelming. I ordered the drunken noodle, with chicken, and asked to add broccoli (for a fee). Wow - the broccoli was just some over-steamed stuff they threw on top. And the sauce was boring. I think ketchup has more heat.
Needless to say, I won't be back. Perhaps I got an off-day, but nothing about the noodles was...
Read moreCame to try Thai Cafe because of all of the positive reviews. I am delighted to say that Thai Cafe surpassed my expectations. Prices are reasonable, I'd venture to even say cheap, especially considering that the sweetener used is honey. Honey is expensive, I appreciate the elevation over lessar than sweeteners. Also, no red dye in the dipping sauces. That was a huge plus in view. I ordered a Thai Tea which was a delicious mix of flavors. Ordered spring rolls and chicken satay as appetizers and those were great as well. For the main dish, I ordered chicken pad Thai, and that came with a delicious salad, dressing was a real flavorful mix. The pad Thai was fantastic and the secret ingredient added was honey. Made this pad Thai experience totally unique and elevated. The dining area had plenty of loyal patrons. Service was lightning fast. Refills on water were instant. Only one wait staff and his hustle and friendliness is stellar. All the food came steaming hot. Side note: I've been to Thailand and all over Asia, this fits right in with what you might come to expect with authentic Thai food. My friend got Massuman Chicken Curry and really enjoyed his dish as well. Five stars, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who...
Read moreIt’s rare that I write a review for anything, but this was totally worth it. It had been a while since I’d eaten here, and I came in tonight, more so, on a whim. I am SO glad I did. I ordered the thai eggplant with tofu fried rice dish and it was AMAZING! I don’t think I have had anything that flavorful and enjoyable in so long. I kept closing my eyes to savor its savory but subtle sweetness. The salad that came with my order wasn’t impressive (just romaine lettuce), however the peanut sauce dressing was divine and made up for what the salad lacked. On top of that, service was great! The server was very pleasant and took her time to answer my questions about the menu. Best of all, she was so sweet and patient with my 6 year old who chimed in on questions. Her suggestions were definitely appealing and I will try them on my next visit. This is a great spot with plenty vegan/vegetarian alternatives. Only thing not so great is the lack of parking in the area, being that it is downtown— however, this inconvenience does not, in the least, compromise this restaurant’s 5 stars. One of the best thai restaurants I’ve ever had the...
