Update: I NEVER said I would have left a 5% tip, I said "service fees are usually between 3% and 5%". I KNOW they are not tips! I know what appropriate tip levels are, and leave them. But I was not about to pay an 18% service fee and an 18% tip. No sir! By the way, NO other restaurant I patronized while there added an 18% "service fee". The picture of the menu has nothing to do with YOUR posted prices on the website. If your prices have changed, YOU need to update your website with the correct prices. And your attitude says a lot, so I changed my score to 1 star. Take the constructive comments and change your ways! We're all saying the same thing and yet all you seem to do is criticize everyone. You've had something negative to say about everyone up here that has been telling of their experience. We ALL can't be wrong!
This was my first time having Mediterranean food. I'm from out of town and agreed to try it with a friend. The food was ok. Not bad, but according to my friend that was with me, not the best. Then it goes down hill from there. On line it looks like a restaurant when in actuality, its a carry out with a few seats. Not the ambiance the website alluded. The waiter quickly said the sandwiches were for lunch only, forcing us to purchase from the plated dinner menu. But more importantly, they overcharged charged us! The server came with the machine already at a total for us to pay, which seemed extremely high based on what we ordered. We asked for an itemized bill and when we questioned the bill, the server started talking to us in a condescending tone. The menu says the Mango was $6.90, they charged us $7.50. An 18% (YES, 18%) "service fee" was added to the bill, but that was not on the website, or menu. I asked if that was the tip (which is generally added for parties of 6, not 2) . He said no, it was the "service fee". Other restaurants that I've patronized who had a service fee's had it stated on the website and menu. And in some cases its posted in the restaurant. And, the service fee has been between 3% and 5%......NO WHERE NEAR 18%. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS! I guess he figured since we were visitors who cares, well I hope whoever reads this cares, and thinks twice about...
Read moreA brand new little restaurant just outside of Universal Studios and down the road from the Orange County Convention Center, on International Drive (aka I-Drive). The restaurant is hidden from the main road, but well worth the find! The inside is decorated in a calming lavender, great to de-stress from a hectic day at the parks!
The owner suggested the shawarma platter. Shawarma meat with rice, a side Mediterranean salad, hummus, and, shrak bread. Delicious and flavorful! I've never had Shawarma before, was well worth the taste! (I can see why it was mentioned in the Avengers movie.) I made my own little combinations of all those items, everything tasted amazing! The Mango drink I had was like drinking a pureed mango - which I found out later, that's exactly what it was! And the Baklava (still my favorite), was to die for - flaky, sweet, and freshly homemade that morning!
The owners were super welcoming, nice, and friendly. They stopped at my table a bunch of times to make sure I was loving the food and my stay at their restaurant. I will 100% eat here again! I almost don't want to tell everyone about it, because once the secret of this hidden gem it out, everyone will want to eat here! But at the same time, people need to stop by and get some of this deliciousness! But don't believe a word I say - you have to go to try for yourself!
A quick note, at the time of my review, this little restaurant is still on its soft opening - no sign out front. It is to the right of the Smoke Shop and a couple of doors down from the Hooka lounge (looking at the...
Read moreMe and my wife recently had the opportunity to order takout at Zaman Mediterranean Grill Restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one. Although the restaurant prides itself on being halal, fresh, and healthy, the food I received did not live up to my expectations.
The first issue I encountered was that the food did not look like the pictures displayed on the menu. As someone who enjoys visually appealing food, this was a disappointment. However, the bigger issue was that the food lacked flavor and did not taste as good as I had hoped. I expected bold and flavorful Mediterranean cuisine, but unfortunately, the dishes fell flat.
Another drawback of the restaurant was its high prices. I was expecting to pay a premium for fresh and healthy food, but the cost was too high considering the lackluster quality of the food. Additionally, the location of the restaurant felt a bit shady, which didn't enhance my overall impression.
All in all, I would not recommend Zaman Mediterranean Grill Restaurant based on my experience. While I appreciate the restaurant's emphasis on healthy and halal cuisine, the food quality and taste left a lot to be desired. The high prices and questionable location only added to my overall dissatisfaction. I hope the restaurant can work on improving its food quality and perhaps consider a more reputable location in the future.
We did not eat after this left a very bad taste in our mouths and upset stomach. We ordered filafel, humus with meat and...
