Great food, but beware of dishonest service
The food here is excellent, but unfortunately, the service I received was very disappointing—and worse, I believe I was scammed by the waitress. Here's what happened:
When I was ready to pay, the waitress brought the check on a small clipboard. I handed her my credit card, and she said she needed to get the payment machine. When she returned, she placed the clipboard on top of the payment terminal and set both on the table before walking away—leaving me to complete the transaction myself.
I found it odd, but proceeded to check out. Only later did I realize that the total was nearly $10 higher than the amount on the original check. When I reviewed the receipt, it showed a 25% tip—which I did not authorize. I now believe the waitress selected a tip amount before handing me the terminal, then covered the screen with the clipboard to hide it.
It's a deceptive tactic, and while the food was great, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. If you choose to dine here, double-check everything at checkout to avoid being taken advantage of. When I informed the manager of what was going on, she was very professional and refunded...
Read moreReally new place, nice setup and decor. We went for the AYCE. For that you must sit at the bar. I wonder what they'll do if the bar is fill since there's only around 8-10 seats there. Customer service was really great. The young man who sat us was so friendly and he explained everything to us. For Ayce you get to order 2 rounds. They do ask that you eat everything before you order the second round. They give you a different ordering sheet because there are a few things on the menu that don't come with the all you can eat. At the time we went the price was $34.99 which feels like a great deal. The sushi was good. A solid 8/10. A little rice heavy and the rolls are more short and thick compared to other places which make for a large bite. The ratio inside did seem a tiny bit light on the vegetables compared to the crab mix, but some might like that. I personally like when there's a good bit of avocado and cucumber to keep it fresh and light, but that's just a preference. My son was super happy and thought it was all delish, we both were stuffed walking out. Really good spot and finally an AYCE sushi place in...
Read moreDrove 2 hours to try this AYCE sushi, which I called to confirm they had AYCE all day. They enthusiastically confirmed that they did for $34.95 on weekends. Got there 5pm Sunday only to be told AYCE can only be served at the bar. I've been to hundreds of sushi places across 3 continents, and have never run into this rule. Would've been nice if they mentioned this rule on the phone, but they probably don't because I personally wouldn't have bothered to come.
So because they said only 8 seats in the whole restaurant were AYCE and it was an hour long wait, we ordered off the happy hour menu instead. The rolls weren't that great, and they took their sweet time making them. By the time our food came, there were two seats at the bar, where we could've sat. In the mean time, we sat nearest the door, where four other parties came in and were just as flabbergasted by the AYCE rule.
Probably won't be back, as the rolls are VERY expensive if you have to order...
