Baja Fresh — Restaurant in Paradise

I was there with my husband 07/28/19 Sunday morning, approx 2am... I would have gladly rated it 5 stars because the food was quite good. My husband ordered a Mexicano burrito with asada meat and guac, I just got a bean/cheese burrito. The portions are filling, and the price is reasonable. The following reasons were for the 3 stars: there were about 6 employees at the time, and it seemed like they were too busy talking amongst themselves to notice that table and seat cleanliness was not up to par. 2nd, one of the guys who was trying to take the order of another customer was veeery rude and short with that customer. Not sure if it was because the cook was just too tired or if it was the fact that the other customer didn't speak English too well. Anyway, my last and biggest turn off of my Baja Fresh experience was the African American fellow who was sporting a very big beard and no beard net UGHHH... having restaurant experience ourselves, my husband and I looked over at each other and groaned in disgust! I'm pretty sure the guy was a trainee, but that doesn't excuse him or the person in charge, of not letting him know, he NEEDS to wear a net on his beard! Especially when he is leaning over tortillas, making burritos. Not sure what the laws are in NV, but in CA hair/beard nets are a must when...

I am someone who primarily eats protein and veggies; therefore, Baja Fresh is an excellent choice. I ate there twice while staying at Excalibur Hotel and Casino, which made it very convenient-- open 24 hours, too as it is located right inside the hotel doors near the Resort Tower entrance near the pool area.

The first night I didn't go there, food was brought up to me by my boyfriend. It was chicken fajitas and they were of good quality, taste and flavor, and a great temperature. It is Vegas, and this location is located in a hotel on the strip, therefore the prices are high, but that's to be expected.

The next night I went down late night and visited the location personally. There were a few transients there asking me for money, which again-- it's Vegas, and many drunk people passing out while they eat (people watching is fun)... I rather enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The people were friendly and the service was quick and good quality as well.

I became the duke while I was there with only two check-ins. I thought that was kinda cool.

I wish my home location in Boise, Idaho was as friendly and superior quality...

• update: in reviews this place is habitually known for food poisoning. Health department needs to shut this place down!!!! BEWARE ......DO NOT EAT HERE. YOU WILL GET SICK IF YOU EAT HERE. This place needs to be shut down. This was the absolute worst experience. A few quesadillas for the family after a great time of swimming wrecked our entire trip. 6 of our family members all suffered from severe food posining. After several unsuccessful attempts at reaching Baja through the numbers listed on the receipt, the hotel went above and beyond to contact the establishment and failed. They make it almost impossible to be reached which is another reason many are not able to report illnesses of this capacity to the establishment. Spoke to the owner of this location only to be insulted and accused of lying. Reports were made with the hotel to record the incident. I have NEVER been insulted by a representative of a company. The lack of professionalism, sincerity, or apathy for our situation blew me away. Was told to take legal matters of it bothered us that much. WORST...
