Phenomenal Experience at Yardhouse in Town Square
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at Yardhouse in Town Square, and it was an experience worth raving about. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the hostess, who set the tone for an incredible evening. She promptly walked me to my table, where I met my first server, Matt. Matt was very courteous, polite, and the whole nine yards--a great server. He took my order and was extremely attentive up until he had to go on break, and that's when I met Toni.
Toni was exceptional. Noticing that our food was taking a bit longer than expected, she promptly checked on it and brought it out herself. Her attentiveness and proactive approach turned what could have been a minor inconvenience into a memorable act of great service.
Now, let's talk about the food and drink! I started with a Boulevard Bourbon Barrel beer. It was a fantastic choice--perfectly cold with rich, robust flavors that danced on my palate.
For appetizers, I had the cheese curds, which were delightfully crispy and gooey--an excellent start to the meal. The main event was the Kurobuta Pork Burger from Snake River Farms, featuring Berkshire pork, spicy candied bacon, white American cheese, arugula, and house-made blueberry ketchup. At first, I was hesitant about the unusual combination of blueberry ketchup, but I decided to try something different. To my delight, it was actually amazing! This burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and every bite was a delightful combination of savory and sweet. The blueberry ketchup added a unique twist that elevated the entire dish.
But the true star of the meal was the truffled sweet potato fries. Originally, the menu offered a choice between sweet potato fries, regular fries, and truffle fries. I asked if I could have truffled sweet potato fries instead, and they happily accommodated my request. These fries were out of this world--crispy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive.
Both Matt and Toni provided outstanding service throughout my visit, making sure my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Their friendly and attentive demeanor made a significant impact, and I left Yardhouse feeling incredibly satisfied.
I highly recommend Yardhouse in Town Square. The combination of excellent food, cold drinks, and stellar service guarantees that I will be back. Make sure to ask for Matt and Toni when you visit--they truly go above and beyond to make your dining...
Read moreSo I will say I think my food would have been good if I had got to eat it while it was warm. My food got brought out first as a party of 4. I had ordered a side of ranch with my sandwich and sweet potato fries. It didn’t come and I also didn’t want to be rude and eat in front of everyone. So I waited. 10 minutes later, another person got their food. And about 5 minutes later everyone else got their food. Still no ranch 15 minutes later after the waitress came back twice saying “no ranch yet? Sorry but the kitchen is all the way upstairs and I hate when the kitchen doesn’t add the ranch. I’m a professional chef and went to culinary school and I don’t understand why they don’t do that.” Mind you one of the other party got their ranch which they had ordered with their meal like I did. Finally she said she would go get it and get her steps in. At this point everyone else is about half way thru their food and my food has been sitting in front of me for 25-30 minutes. She then brings back 6 ranch and said she didn’t want us to run out like she was mad that we asked her for our ranch so many times. I asked my party “isn’t it her job to make sure we have what we need and/or get us what we need if we don’t have it?” They agreed. It just came across as if we were inconveniencing her. So my food was stone cold but I was starving so I ate it.
Also, one member of my party ordered a Caesar salad and it came with hardly any dressing. She asked for more and the waitress was like “oh we lightly toss our Caesar”. And then walked away. This was before our other food came out. The dressing didn’t come til after all the other food came out so my friend asked her to take it back because she wasn’t able to eat it and didn’t want it anymore. The waitress then tried to charge her for it when the bill came and when we asked for it to be taken off she was put off and was like “I didn’t realize you wanted it off…now I have to go get my manager”. My friend didn’t touch it! Why would we pay for something she legitimately didn’t eat??? It eventually did get taken off but we sat there for probably another 15 minutes just waiting.
I will say everyone else was happy with their food and the atmosphere is always great. But unfortunately our service last night was...
Read moreThree out of five instead of two because Management was really on top of their efforts to make things right without us having to point things out
The experience started promisingly with servers who were reasonably prompt at taking our large group’s orders, despite appearing somewhat overwhelmed. This was surprising given that the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy during our morning visit. The real problems began once our orders were placed. The food arrived at a very slow pace, and worse, dishes came out in waves rather than together. Half our party was finishing their meals while others were still waiting - a basic coordination failure that’s especially frustrating for group dining. It became clear that several orders had been forgotten entirely, requiring reminders and additional wait time. Food Quality Concerns Beyond the timing issues, the food quality had serious problems. Finding an avocado pit remnant in one of the dishes was not just unappetizing but concerning from a safety standpoint - it suggests rushed or inattentive food preparation. Additionally, drink orders were incorrect, compounding the service mishaps. We ordered a truffle burger that eventually came out way after the rest of the food and it might have been rushed, not sure- but I was throwing up later into the evening
Management Response To their credit, the management team deserves recognition for their proactive approach. They acknowledged the problems without being prompted and clearly understood that we weren’t having the experience we deserved. Comping dessert was a thoughtful gesture that showed they were paying attention and wanted to make amends. Bottom Line While Yard House’s management showed they care about customer satisfaction, the operational failures were too significant for a restaurant of this caliber. The slow, uncoordinated kitchen service and food safety issues overshadowed any positives. For special occasions like birthday celebrations, reliability is crucial - and unfortunately, this location fell short when it mattered most. The proactive management response prevents this from being a complete disaster, but significant improvements are needed in kitchen coordination and...
