Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Peoria

Guess it depends on who is working. Last week went in on a Saturday and everything was wonderful especially our waiter. He was top notch! A plus on his service. Food prompt and well prepared. THEN we go today Tuesday August 8th and it was HORRIBLE! Waited to be seated while 4 staff stood around staring at us. Waitress was sweet. Other waitress was kind as well but they were so overwhelmed with trying to hostess, bus, cashier it effected their waitressing. Food was VERY VERY slow on ALL tables to come out. Got order wrong on my child's order due to kitchen's fault not waitress. Good thing my kid was not allergic to their mess up. THEN we waited over ten minutes at register with 5 other people in line to cash out with no staff at register or hostessing. When I asked for manager 3 different staff had to go back and get her before she came out. She said she was washing dishes but staff said she was in her office. And I watched her cut two wait staff prior to problems even though they were obviously short and under staffed already. She was arrogant, unconcerned, and very rude. Had no remorse for the way her customers were being disserviced and staff were being over tasked due to her lack of management. Told me "I have no clue what she is doing in back" when I told her that she should be in front helping staff and customers. Will definitely rethink before we stop in again. I grew up on Steak N Shake my whole life but everytime I go to this location it's extremely sub par service, short staffed, very long waits, and orders never correct and have to ask and remind about your order multiple times. Completely understand in the food business sometimes you are short staffed or an unexpected rush but this is now the norm at this location. Poor management for sure. Yesterday we were there for over an hour and a half with a party of 5 at 1pm. There were 2 waitresses working the entire restaurant and they had to make all the milkshakes themselves and it took forever. They were completely disheveled and stressed understandably as it wasnt their fault they were short staffed but the quality of everything is pathetic. Our food sat at the window for over 10 minutes before it was brought to us. And was luke warm at best. The milkshakes took over 30 minutes and were made poorly and incorrectly. Never recieved chili orders and took 10 minutes to get it taken off our bill. Further insult to injury had to stand and wait over 10 minutes to pay for the disappointing meal. Hire more staff. Step up the management. And for the love of God have a designated milkshake crew. For a place that is known for their milkshakes it's a cluster everytime to get one correctly and within a decent timeframe. Hands down the slowest Steak n’ Shake I have ever been to. I had been to this one before about a year ago and decided to see if it had improved. It had not. We arrived at the location at about 8 PM. Two cars were waiting for their food when we pulled up and one was ordering. No one was in the restaurant. We ordered our food, 2 burgers, 2 fries, 1 milkshake and 1 soda. After ordering we waited at least 25 minutes before the first car waiting for their food got their order. When we finally got to the window we waited an additional 5 or 10 minutes before we received our food, this was after we had already waited almost 30 minutes just to get to the window. We did not get our food until after 8:40 PM. By this time we were too hungry to care but our fries were cold, and unsalted, and our burgers were just warm. While sitting at the window the staff could easily be seen standing around and apparently doing nothing but joking around. Not to say that all the staff should be doing is working but when you have a line of cars (2 behind us) there might just be a little hustle. Very disappointing and very sad that nothing has been done to improve the situation at this steak and shake. Do not waste your time or money and find somewhere else to eat. If you really want to do Steak n’ Shake go down War Memorial a couple miles and go to one of the other Steak n’ Shake in Peoria. There is literally one just a couple miles east on War...
