UPDATE. I didnāt feel good about leaving a bad review for the entire store due to one employee. While I believe that being the only store in Oregon means you should hire the absolute best people to represent your brand, the other regular employees Iāve interacted with have been friendly and helpful. Itās a fun and positive vibe in the store overall and theyāre pet-friendly.
Visited the store for the first time in my life since I usually buy from REI. But, they had a great sale and I walked in to return something I purchased from their website. When I told the associate, Simon, I had a return, he rudely asked if it was the vest I was wearing (which he had complimented earlier). In what universe would someone come in to return something they are wearing? Even if something has been worn, an effort would be made to bring it in a bag, possibly with the accompanying tags. He also cartoonishly scrutinized the item and asked a ton of questions about the return, when it was obvious I had never even worn it. I understand store policies; you donāt have to act like itās a personal offense that I am returning something, as if this brandās merchandise is so perfect Iād have to be crazy to want to return something. As if you, personally, sourced the materials and sewed the pants I brought back.
Before completing my return, I tried on a parka. I asked him why their ā800 fillā down jackets are not as warm as my ā650 fillā jacket from Columbia. He thought he was being cute when he vocally booed the brand and made a thumbs-down gesture. Newsflash, most people cannot afford this high-end apparel, and Iāve been a fan of Columbia since moving to Portland because I moved from Florida, where winter doesnāt exist, and their store has good deals and is close to me.
I hate that this is the only location near me because I do not want to give this store my business. His immature and snooty behavior was nauseating, and the way he made me feel has been bugging me all day so I had to leave this review. To whoever manages this store, this Simon guy needs an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have shopped here a handful of time since the store had opened and was even here during the grand opening in April and have had some amazing experiences! Unfortunately, my last visit was a different story. I came in with a friend to look at packs to go on a day hike in dog mountain. The worker Lewis kindly greeted us and we were having a really nice conversation with him about what kind of pack my friend was looking for and how I already had mine locked down. When the other person working āSimonā butted in mid sentence and basically pushed Lewis away from helping us anymore which felt really rude. The conversation with him was pretty uncomfortable and felt really pushy and forced. We told him thanks but that we could finish finding a pack on our own which he didnāt seem to like because his demeanor changed to be really snippy. I love this store but I did not love that interaction at all. But Lewis, if youāre reading this keep up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited Cotopaxi, which is a sustainable outdoor apparel brand. Cotopaxi is a fair fashion brand known for their high quality outdoor essentials. The brand sells colorful products that make the world a little bit better with every purchase. It can be a little expensive for many people, but if you're a hiker or someone who loves the outdoors, getting some different from this brand is probably in your best interests, I presume. A bag can range up to $30 to $ 300+, or any part of clothing can range from $25 to $200+. I believe the brand was named after one of the world's highest active volcanos, Cotopaxi. The employees that the shop were really kind and helpful. Overall, I would recommend coming to the shop or shopping online if you're an outdoor person looking for a statement piece for your travels or something reliable that you can depend on in...
