Exactly what it should be after over a quarter century. They have everything you've come to expect from a bar and grill and it is all served with b.s. upon request. The french dip is perfectly simple. The burgers are clearly fresh and cooked to your liking. They have soups, they have tacos, they have excellent entrees and specials, they have tots, they have local and popular beer, they have a great staff, they have gambling, and they have outside / patio seating and service. They have an obvious "in" with the "aged like wine" locals and the Steins to show it. On top of which, they treat the neighborhood bartenders when every other spacious local restaurant has scaled back to close earlier than Nobby. After I got married, I took my friends to Nobbys. When I wanted to see a couple of acquaintances and be able to take my dog, I went to Nob Hill B&G. And when I had a long day at work and one of my coworkers wanted to get a quick bite and bevvy, I went to Nobbys.

Came here on 1/10 with some coworkers to try an awesome special which changes each night. Tonight was a fried chicken sandwich, with lettuce, cheese, mayo tomato and your choice of potato salad, fries, tator tots or soup. They have a lot of choices of chili, sandwiches and side items for a variety of people. I had a delicious sandwich full of flavor and moisture with a solid crunch. The potato salad was absolutely delicious with the paprika. I also tried some of the fries as a side dish and it was absolutely crispy and salted nicely. Paired with their house mustard. The atmosphere is very mellow and chill. 80s music blasts in the background and provides a whole vinlbe which makes you want to relax and chill. The wait staff was super friendly and quick to serve you as well. I would highly suggest trying this place and giving the food a glance. I personally do not drink alcohol, but I absolutely will hunt for great food spots.

Service isn’t really service here. This place should either have an order/pick up window or full service. The in-between can really confuse a first time guest. They will bring you menus but then you’ll wait around and finally have to go order at the counter. They’ll bring you the food out but then not check back. The drink I did order was made decent. The nachos are a plate of cheap tortilla chips nuked in the microwave with most of the cheese melted to the plate topped with a “chili” that had about three beans and mostly some lukewarm, unflavored reddish sauce, Melted sour cream, and more jarred jalapeños and tomatoes than anything else. 9$ for that was pretty disappointing. We had one round and left. Unimpressed and chances are high that we won’t be back. But Bathrooms are kept clean which was nice.

We turned up here for brunch one morning. I ordered 2 eggs and toast, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito. However, they had run out of wraps. Instead of telling us this and giving my husband the chance to order something different, we were just left sitting there. Over half an hour later (I was really hungry by this point) I went up to the chef's window and plaintively looked through. The horrible waitress pounced on me wanting to know what I was doing - no, she couldn't hurry our food along, no, she had no idea what was going on, blah blah blah. I asked if we could have more coffee (she hadn't come back to offer refills).

She came back over with coffee and subjected us to a simply bizarre harangue about how she had nothing to do with what happened in the kitchen and that out food would coming at some point. With hindsight we should have just walked out at this point and gone somewhere else - I mean, whatever happened to presenting a united face and working as a team!?

Anyway, our so-so food did eventually arrive, probably about 50 minutes after we ordered it. Bear in mind we are talking scrambled eggs, toast, and a shop-bought wrap with eggs and stuff in here. The weirdo waitress ranted about the kitchen again and told us she was going to take the cost of the coffee off our check. Well wow.

We ate here on Sunday 16th August. If the owner or manager reads this review, he should check who was serving that morning and fire her, she really...

We came for lunch on Sunday. We didnt realize that patrons are expected to order food and drinks at the bar. There were a total of probably 9 customers in the restaurant including us. There were three people working the floor and a few more in the kitchen. We sat there for probably 5 minutes before I saw a gal go to the bar to get a drink. The floor staff was sitting at the bar doing practically nothing. Why not politely let us know that we were expected to grab menus ourselves and order from the bar? There were no signs that I could see, we looked. We ordered a couple of beers and some food. Food came. No one came back to check on us. Then, we had to sit there and watch while one of the floor employees took one of the kitchen employees out front, where he very visibly berated him and then, I'm assuming, fired him, literally right outside the windows where we were sitting. It was unprofessional and frankly, uncomfortable. I made several efforts to smile and engage with the front staff when ordering and then when paying, and was met with cool nonchalance attitudes by both the firing bartender and the girl who stood there working on a crossword puzzle. Maybe just an off day but suffice it to say, we were far from impressed with the service. $41 for two beers and two sandwiches, before tip...we'll go somewhere with actual table service and a staff that acts like they give a...

The restaurant fills most of the space at this location and deservedly so given the good homestyle food they serve. Plus it comes in decent portions and is priced fairly reasonably. There is a fully stocked selection for just about anyone's favorite drink at the small but very functional bar when you first walk in but due to size and being located directly in the walkway seating is extremely limited there. Your choices are:

  1. in the restaurant where there is tables you can seat a group at comfortably.
  2. In one of two small sections in the back with a few video poker machines if you prefer but there is no room for groups or any friends to watch or hang out aside from those playing.
  3. If the weather is nice there is also a few tables set up in front of the building where you can take your drinks and food outside and enjoy the sunshine. It is covered so if we ever do get rain again you could still sit there and remain dry while you enjoyed your meal. For cigarette smokers there is also a couple small tables along the side of the building around the corner. Overall a nice comfortable but "cozy" homestyle...
