This is my Catch 22. I eat (take out) here a lot (but only during the day, perhaps after 9 pm it's different) because it's close to where I live and they have the best birria tacos and chorizo burritos. That being said, they only get your order right maybe half of the time. If you order a birria burrito or a carne asada burrito, expect it to be mostly fatty. If you order a burrito express, you'll get all the innards of a supreme burrito which is Extremely irritating if you happen to be allergic to tomatoes and avocados and hate sour cream, which is what happened to this order and the 2 orders before that. IN A ROW. And that's just the last few, recent orders. It's even more irritating when more than half of the burrito is avocado, tomato, and sour cream. If you order extra beans, you will NEVER see them but you will pay for them. If you order al pastor meat, you might get little bits of pineapple in the burrito as they cook the meat with it but they don't list it so hopefully you're not allergic to pineapple. You may also order on days that they are closed except their online ordering is still open and all of their information says they are open. For example, the physical sign on their door... when you want to make sure their website and Google maps is accurate...which it wasn't....for a while.... Sometimes the phone goes unanswered when they are open because they can get busy so that's really not a good indicator of open or closed. So back to the online ordering on days they are closed, they take the money and for whatever reason won't be able to refund you electronically so you can either physically go back to the restaurant and get cash or put the money towards another order and hope the order is actually what you wanted. I always tell myself, "since they already have the money, I'll just take my chances and reorder something..." And BAM the food is bomb. So I'll 'forget' that half the time, they mess up the order and then I'm back in this miserable loop. Please note, this is from a takeout experience only. I'm sure if you ate there and had issues, they would correct it but I wouldn't be surprised if there were issues even if...
Read moreThis place slaps. Try the Suadero beef brisket fried up in pork fat with some delicious almond match salsa that is to die for. This place makes some of the best tacos I've ever had outside of California and I cannot wait to try more.
So I'm gonna snag some second and remember to take a picture this time :D
Overall my favorite two were the Suadero and the Carnitas which pass my "doesn't need salsa" test and the birria was insanely juicy and fell apart in my mouth. Surprise treat was the pastor being cutup like lardons with actual pieces of pineapple in the taco
Plus they have like 3 frescas! Horchata, cucumber lime and an awesome mango one! Give it a try soon!
Edit 1:
Ok, I came back for a burrito and ended up getting 2 queso tacos and 2 regular. Mixed the consome with their salsa match and I am in heaven! Queso tacos are usually birria but I got Suadero and it's amazing. Poured the consome salsa mix on my pastor and asada with pickled onions and it was amazing.
I need to eat something else here sometimes but rare is the place I want to eat at back to back but...
Read moreI’m so bothered right now spent $17 getting Carne Asada fries that they specifically advertise as crispy fries. My fries are as soft as your ex. I asked for no guac and extra cheese, barely any cheese on here at all. They actually did listen to the no guac, but I mean damn when I’m literally taking off one of the most expensive items on the meal you would think I could at least get the replacement of extra cheese. On top of that this whole meal has no flavor if it wasn’t for the three sides of salsa I got I wouldn’t be tasting anything but air so much for an amazing cheat meal. I’m so pissed off. I should’ve just drove across town to the north side of Portland and got myself some Muchas Gracias buy some people who actually know how to cook Mexican food. FOH. Be so...
