Since Pepino’s on NW 23rd has opened, we have been very regular customers of the restaurant. However, yesterday Around 8.30 pm I ordered a surfo turfo chicken burrito instead of a beef one and the guy on the counter charged my wife $14.65. When she asked him “how come he charged so much more then what was listed for the burrito”, the guy got very angry at her and told her that, “it cost’s money for chicken and then we have to put the avacados in there as well. Which he said costs much more dollars for everything but when my wife told him that she had only ordered a “supremo”and not for all the extra options, the man working at the counter decided to be very aggressive and began yelling at her in public and said to her that “I work here so I don’t owe you anything!”. After talking with his coworkers they finally helped charge $11.85(the correct amount) for the burrito. I am writing this not over a few extra dollars, but because of how my wife was treated in public and the poor ethics that...

It would be so great to have an actual good Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. I have been to Mexican restaurants in California that are just so good. Pepino's falls well short of that standard. Pepino's is food cooked without love or care.
Last time I went to Pepino's I got the Baja Salad and a chicken/bean/cheese burrito.
The Burrito was not made with any care at all. I asked for them to hold the rice (the act of my asking them to hold the rice actually made the burrito cost more - They charged around $11 for this vs. $8 for a grande burrito). The burrito they gave me was almost inedible. Huge clumps of cold cheese mixed in with rice (yes, they added the rice even though they charged me extra to get it taken out).
The Baja salad was mostly brown tinged iceburg lettuce with a few chunks of chicken and then smothered with cojita cheese. Not good at all.
I'd be more likely to go to Taco Bell than to...
Read moreI first tried Pepinos in 2015. It was conveniently located within walking distance of my house in NW Portland off of 23rd. Upon entering, I was blown away at the number of patrons that were present. It immediately gave me confidence that this place was going to be good.
One of the BEST reasons I continuously recommend Pepinos is their speed of service. If I order anything to go, I am easily in and out in 5-10 minutes. Crazy! Furthermore, their open kitchen style allows it's customers to see them cook their dishes in fresh right in front of you. Certainly gets the stomach turning over with excitement.
Pepino's continues to be a mainstay for my weekly diet and easy recommendation for locals and visitors alike. It's easy to see why they are such a popular restaurant in town. I'm looking forward to using them for catering services coming up and maintaining them as one of my preferred dining out experiences!
Love you guys!...
