It was our first visit and we asked if there was any outdoor seating. I was told "Yes there is but you have to go through the back entrance. Go ahead and go. There are servers there that will help you." So we went back there but didn't see any greeters at the entrance so we assumed it was a self seating arrangement. My husband and I sat ourselves in a table and when one of the waitresses saw us getting ready to sit down she came up to us and said "excuse me we have a waiting list." I let her know we were told to come here for outdoor seating and we didn't see anyone to take a our name. She asked "how many of you" and let her know it was two. She then said "well ok since it is only two of you just go ahead and stay here that's fine." She was polite about the whole situation which was a relief considering there were other people around us and it would have been very embarrassing to have to leave the table. She proceeded to give us menus and had water brought to us, while we waited for coffee and to order our breakfast. She took our orders promptly but then we waited what seemed like an hour for our meal to arrive to our table. My husband ordered a Denver Omelet and I had ordered the Huevos Rancheros. Let me tell you that it was worth the wait!!! My eggs were made exactly as I wanted them (yes I'm difficult to please). The tortilla was really crispy and golden brown. The sauce on the eggs was so flavorful and not spicy at all, just delicious! The refried beans had the authentic cheese used in real Mexican food. If you do like the hot spice, the fresh Pico De Gallo had just the right amount of jalapenos to give you that kick. If you prefer no burn what so ever you could just move the jalapeno to the side and enjoy the excellent taste of the rest of the ingredients. The guacamole also tasted fresh and homemade. I was actually shocked to realize this dish is one of the best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had considering it's not even a Mexican restaurant! I was AMAZED! Definitely will want to come back when we...
Read moreWe had gone several years ago with friends from out of town. We finally were able to get the servers attention which turned out to be the actual owner( the elderly gentleman I believe.) After he took our order and we were given our drinks, as we were conversing with our friends, and suddenly realized that it had been a while since anything, was brought out to us. We flagged down another server and come to find out the elderly gentleman had left to do errands and forgot to turn our order in.!
Fast forward 2 years. We went last night, which was June 1, and as we walked in the waitress never really gave us contact and just told us to have a seat. A young man quickly brought us chips and salsa, but it was at least 10 minutes before we could get the attention of a server to come take our drink order. When she finally showed up and we placed our drink order and our dinner menu since we figured we better get her attention while she was there. The dinner came out and it was hot and it was very tasty. Their food is actually very good however, after our meal, she never once came back to check on us and we were waiting for our bill and she never showed up. my husband looked and saw her in the kitchen cooking. We were able to flag down another server to to find out what was going on and told her we wanted our bill. On top of that. They had messed up my husbandâs order and promised him another chicken enchilada to take home . When we finally got our waitress to come out, she said she was waiting on a party of 38 in the front dinner Bell restaurant! She never came back to let us know what was going on and just kept us hanging. Horrible horrible service at this place. We gave it several tries and we will never go back again. They donât deserve...

Don't let the outward appearance of this little, unassuming joint deter you from the incredible food and service that awaits inside.
Having been displaced from Flagstaff by a wildfire, my wife and I were spending a few days in Prescott. We arrived at Casa Alvarez before they were even open. Like family, they let us in, seated us, brought us water, and chips and salsa. Then we had to wait about 15 minutes until they âofficially openedâ before we could order. No worries. We weren't in a hurry. And now, weâre such fans weâd stand in line for 2 hours if we had to!
My wife had the chicken taquitos. These were 3 fist sized rolled tacos with about a 1/4 lb of filling in each.
I had the Tampico Plate, which is an enchilada Suiza and about 6 oz of perfectly seasoned and cooked flank steak, with rice and beans, and just a little guacamole.
I can't say enough about how good this food is. It is clear that these are recipes passed down from Grandma, and refined over years to be as good as it is. The beans are some of the best I've ever had. And when they say it comes with guacamole that means about an entire avocado's worth.
This is obviously a place that is frequented by locals, because there were a lot of people greeting each other, and the staff spoke to some like they were regulars. The staff is really nice, and even offer recommendations. (Yes. You DO want the cilantro & jalapeno salad dressing!)
In short, some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, and an overall great, casual...
