I gave D&B a chance to make my experience right. I contacted corporate, and now being ignored. Corporate wanted to refund me the money for the amount my family and I paid for a game card, but I declined and here’s why.
My fiancé, my 7 year old daughter and I went for a fun night out at Dave and Busters in Providence. We sat next to the game room so we could go back and forth from eating and playing games. We all ordered food. Played a few games and came back when the food was ready. We ate a little bit, then went back to play more games. After about a half hour of playing games, I went back to finish my meal that I took a few bites from. I don’t remember the exact meal that I ordered, but it was chicken with pasta. When I went back, my food was gone. Not the whole plate, just my food. I waited there and asked the waitress if she cleaned up my meal as they knew we were going to be back and forth. She was confused and said, “no. None of our staff cleaned it up.” I then told her I literally took a few bites and my meal is gone. She then explained that sometimes the homeless come in and hang around and maybe a homeless person took my meal. I was in shock. I have nothing against homeless people, but the thought of anyone grabbing and touching my food horrifies me. I also took a sip of my sprite when I went to go back and eat my food. The thought of someone possibly drinking from my cup is absolutely disgusting. I don’t even share drinks with friends. My fiancé and daughter had a full plate of food left and they didn’t eat it because of this scenario. We were there late and there was no where open to eat after we left. We left hungry. We spent a good amount of money and we literally all only took a few bites of our meal.
So I reached out to corporate, and like I mentioned earlier, they wanted to refund us for the 80$ game card we purchased. I declined because we spent a little under 100$ that night for food we didn’t get to eat. Our bill total was just short of 170$.
Our daughter loves arcade games, and we wanted to make D&B a weekly family fun night, but will never be back. The point of D&B is to eat and play, as we saw many families leave to play games and return just like we did. We asked staff if it was ok that we go back and forth from eating to playing games, and they said absolutely. If they had warned us that homeless people hang out there and advise us to eat and pack it up, we would have done that and not left hungry.
For anyone who is looking for a fun night out with your family, I advise you to not leave your food out and eat it all before...
Read moreOk, my opinion, probably a 3.5 star. But….
We have to drive an hour at least to get to a D&B. So we planned a day with my oldest. I will say, she had a lot of fun. She’s younger, so doesn’t fully understand the concept of tokens (or chips) money, and/or tickets.
The pros: There’s lots to do, for all ages really. If you had the money, you could easily spend a small fortune, but really have a great day! The place seemed well maintained, fairly clean, and decent bathrooms. We “dined in” for lunch, and my daughter had the “kids pizza”, and really enjoyed it.
The Cons; My wife & I had a couple of “classic burgers”. Man, were they salty! Either one of us finished our burgers completely. The fries were “ok”. Nothing special, but they were crispy, and tasted good. The thing that really bothered me, was the whole “ticket thing”. I know, it’s the same everywhere & anywhere that does the whole “win tickets, and use them to buy stuff” is grossly over priced, usually cheap, but something the kids enjoy nonetheless.
However, we had 1098 tickets, and guess what?? Everything my daughter wanted was 1100 tickets, of course. Lol. But my “problem” with it was the fact we had 1.5 chips remaining on the “power card”, and it would have been nice to be able to convert them into some tickets, OR at the very least, make a way to pay for the difference with actual credit card, or money. Again, in my opinion, my daughters memory of her trip to D&B would have been better if she could’ve walked out with something she wanted. Of course, we could have re-loaded the he card, and one more tickets… but we dropped a decent chunk of change as it was.
Ultimately, it’s a cool place, and I would recommend it. Just be sure everyone understands the cost, and the potential disappointment that may arise.
Lastly, the app is terrible. It’s slow to update, and requires re-authentication every time you open it. We were on D&B’s WiFi too. I’d avoid the app...
Read moreI went to This location twice In The past week. The first day I was checking my card balance and had 4,000 less tickets on it then I remember from my last visit and my history was deleted. I went to the manager and he went out of his way to check my card info and Informed me that the card was correct. (I may have been mistaken on how many tickets I had saved aside) The next day we went we sat down and ate. It took over an hour to get our food, but there was only one waiter and it was obvious he had a lot going on. Our food was still hot when we got it so it wasn't a huge deal. So if you ever have an issue with timing check out your surroundings and make sure your not getting upset over someone who is doing the best they can with the situation they are in. At the end of our meal we noticed the waiter had over charged us $30 for our food.we talked to The waiter and he went and fixed the charges, but the change was not showing up in our bank account even after a couple hours. We went and played some games and on our way out we had ran into The same manager I had dealt with days before and voiced our concerns about the charges. he personally printed us out new receipts and told us our refund for the difference would be posted to our bank account within a few days and then proceeded to add 125 game chips to our card as a courtesy. We still don't know what caused the $30 over charge, but are just going to call it a computer glitch ( which still makes me a little concerned about the tickets I felt were missing. ) Moral of my story, the manager at this location is very understanding and will make sure everything is taken care to the point of him going out of his way. Even if you can be a pain In The butt like...
