Let me just start by saying this: if Jamal J. is working, do yourself a favor â turn around and walk out. Iâve never experienced someone less interested in doing their job, much less interacting like a decent human being.
I walked in ready to order a milkshake and some fries, just hoping for a chill, quick visit. Instead, I got met with pure attitude and zero effort. I asked Jamal a simple, normal question â âWhat would you recommend?â â and instead of being remotely helpful or even pretending to care, he just shrugged and gave me a half-mumbled, robotic list: âChocolate, caramel, strawberry.â Thatâs it. No tone, no suggestion, no eye contact â just vibes of âwhy are you even talking to me?â
I tried to clarify, like âAlright, whatâs your favorite?â and he just looked at me like I was the dumbest person alive. No answer. Just sitting there like a bored teenager forced to be at a family dinner. At that point, I said âNever mind,â because clearly, me asking for help was an inconvenience.
Whatâs wild is that the bar is so low for decent customer service. I wasnât asking for anything over the top â just basic human decency. But Jamal couldnât even fake that. The whole interaction made me feel like I was annoying him just for being there. He didnât care, didnât want to help, and made it obvious.
If Five Guys is okay with this kind of treatment, thatâs a red flag. Iâve had better interactions with self-checkout machines.
Hire people who actually want to be there. Or at least train them to...
   Read moreGreat burgers, so many toppings to chose from. Fries are good too. And the quantities are generous. Milkshakes are delish. I'd say the only thing not worth the price are the hot dogs, skip them. Food is good overall but service makes you feel a bit underwhelmed.
9/23/21: updating my review and lowering to 1 star. Why? Itâs fast food so you kinda know what to expect in terms of quality and taste. So whatâs the most important thing? Get the order right. Well they didnât and thatâs the most annoying thing. I ordered two large fries and got two small fries.
11/5/21: district manager emailed me and offered two free meals because of the issue last time. Nice gesture. When I went to use the staff was confused as first because I was told to show them the email with the offer. Anyway in the end they honored it...

Ordered online and after about 10 minutes it said ready to pick up. Went over to pick up and they said it would be âa few minutesâ for fries. This is my lunch break and I donât have time to wait. Called to have them cancel the order and the woman who answers had serious attitude, saying âwell itâs ready now do come pick it up.â I told her I couldnât and she said it would be 5 days till I get a refund. So now Iâm sitting here hungry, with $20 less dollars because this restaurant doesnât understand basic things like what âitâs readyâ means.
