Frenchman's Pub-Richfield — Restaurant in Richfield

The business has been here for 90 years. We were not able to eat today because they seem to be understaffed and were very busy. But I wanted to take a moment to post a review because businesses like this need support from the community.

First of all I'm going to rate this place as five stars because the staff were friendly even though they were completely overwhelmed. When we asked about how long it would take to get food they were very forthcoming and said that it would be about 45 minutes but offered us drinks immediately.

The menu is small which is great because it means that they are focusing on a small number of items and doing them well which is common sense in an establishment like this.

We will definitely be going back but we will be checking ahead of time to make sure that they are able to serve orders and are not understaffed and overwhelmed because we want to have the best possible experience and that's just not always possible on a restaurant and bar such as this place are clearly overwhelmed and understaffed.

To the business owner, we wish you the very best and we hope to be able to experience the food in your establishment soon. My husband is a former manager in the food services industry and both of us clearly understand how hard it is to keep staff while also being able to keep up high quality standards. So we wish you the very best and hope that we are able to visit sometime soon. We were really anxious to check out the burgers since I saw that you had a ghost pepper burger that looked like it was going to be pretty good.

And to anyone visiting this place that gets impatient or angry, hold your tongue and think a little bit. All of these establishments have been struggling with staffing issues. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS! We had a very raciest experience with one of the bartenders.

We arrived about 45 minutes to an hour before closing time. About 30-40 people (all older white individuals) all had drinks and some had just been served. As soon as the bartender (5’7” with a black beard) noticed the color of my friends skin, he notified us that they were “closing in 5 minutes.” This was clearly a lie and I started to noticed the gazes we were getting from the other customers. We tried to order one round of shots to make it worth our while and were denied. This was seconds after the bartender delivered a drink to one of the other tables. We sat for about three more minutes and it was very obvious the place wasn’t closing down.

We left without trouble. The fact that my friend can’t go to a bar that is a half a mile from where he lives is disheartening. This place should get shut down. It has no place in the State of Minnesota or the...

First come first serve type of place when it comes to seating. I think they would definitely be considered a “dive bar”. If you’re looking for a five star waited on hand and foot type of place then keep moving 😂 I’ve been here where there’s a server coming around and is quite attentive and I’ve also been here when you could wait forever if you don’t go up and order yourself. You just have to feel the vibe and don’t be offended or afraid to go up and order if no one comes to you. Drinks are strong!!!
