Let me start this review by saying that I was warned by Lauren (I believe the manager) that if I write it, they will respond that I was given a full refund. While that is true, I want to share my horrible experience with customers who are looking to purchase a cake for an event. Searching for a 1st birthday cake for my daughter I found one that liked on Paigeās Instagram.(just instead of blue, make it pink) I went in person order the cake. There appeared to be a clear understanding of what was expected. (Photos attached) Busy with party prep I had a family member pick up the cake. Once seeing it, I realized I had a different cake. I called the bakery to let them know this is not what I asked for. The employee apologized and requested I email a picture of the cake and that I would be refunded. Lauren called me to discuss the mishap. I was told for the first time, in order to receive full refund I needed to return the cake. I explained, had I known, I would have returned the cake. During our 15-minute phone conversation, Lauren did not intend to refund the cake, just to give a credit for coffee and a treat. I told her that was not fair, because the miscommunication was on their end, I was being punished by not receiving a refund for the wrong cake. After telling her that I would then need to write a review to document my experience, that is when she finally offered a full refund for the cake. The most disrespectful part of this experience is when I told Lauren that I did appreciate that they finally agreed to a refund, but this was just a stressful situation. Lauren then told me that mistakes were made on both ends. It was extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional to actually try and blame the customer as well for their mistakes. I told her I did not like the way she was talking to me and asked to speak to Paige. Lauren refused. I do not recommend this bakery. An enormous time and effort was made just for this bakery to do the right thing. There was a lack of communication, professionalism, maturity and empathy. Paige, all I want at this point is a sincere apology and not a backhanded one. Lauren should not have tried and make me feel bad for this. This was for my daughter's first birthday, and now this awful experience will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been a fan of Paige's since they moved to Round Rock. Located down the street from my work, it is often a stop for me in the mornings or afternoons. I was even considering their services for my upcoming wedding. After these trips, I can no longer attest to their good quality.
However the past two visits, Ive been very disappointed! Everyone was super friendly and everything looks visually appealing and delicious, but the taste has not been there. The first disappointment: I ordered a Nutella stuffed pop tart (or what I was told it was) & it turned out to be Nutella frosted strawberry pop tart (not a good combination at all). I understand accidents happen, but upon reading other Google reviews, it seems carelessness has been a common theme in this bakery. The second disappointment: Determined to give the pop tarts another try, I ordered the brown sugar cinnamon. The crust was so dry, I could not even break the tart in half. The brown sugar cinnamon filling had been cooked too long and had become crunchy on the inside. Further, the "frosting" was just powdered sugar on top. There was hardly any flavor of brown sugar or cinnamon. Not good at all and ended up in the trash. During this trip, I also ordered a blueberry scone. Im a HUGE fan of scones & have not had a scone from Paige's I didn't like, until now. The scone had been drowned in that powdered sugar frosting that I mentioned above. Basically just powdered sugar and milk mixed then poured on the top of the scone, not drizzled or done with design at all. A bakery that makes a powdered sugar frosting that a 5-year old could do just screams lazy to me. There was no blueberry flavor to it because the powdered sugar on the outside was so overwhelming. I generally enjoy scones because they are not overly sweet, however this one was and ended up in the trash can as well. I may as well have just thrown my money out the window.
I'm not sure if there has been a recent change of baker or staff but the quality of treats has definitely declined in the last month. Unfortunately, I most likely will not be returning to Paige's and will not be recommending to any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered this cake back in March for my sisters birthday. When I placed the order on the phone I asked for a drip cake with some elegant roses and then a fancy cake topper. Well, they gave me drip, a topper and roses.. but this is not what I had in mind. I was expecting those really elegant looking drip cakes with those big fancy plastic happy birthdays toppers in them. I also thought they would add some fancy roses. What I got is pretty, but it's rather kiddy looking and looks like an easter themed cake. They added different colors and it does not look elegant and fancy. This cake was meant for an adult and it looks like an easter themed child birthday cake. I don't know how they thought this cake was fancy or elegant. However, the cake still looks really nice. But, the cake was supposed to be soaked in alcohol. The cake was dry and very wet. I get that I selected for the alcohol soak, but it's meant to be lightly drizzled on the cake. Instead they completely soaked the cake in alcohol and as we were eating it the cake was soggy. The cake just tasted horrible. It also had a strawberry buttercream on the inside and it was HORRIBLE. It did not taste like strawberry and the buttercream was not smooth. It was very bitter and had real strawberry bits in it but they were not good. I think they added flavoring too it as well. The cake's appearance was not what I imagined, but it was still beautiful and I was happy. But the taste was horrible and not good. It was wet and soaked with alcohol and the strawberry buttercream was disgusting. I believe it costed $85. Not worth the money and the design of the cake means very little when the taste...
