I don't understand how this place is in business. Over priced food and you even have to pay extra for sauce at this sit down restaurant. The garlic fries are a tragedy just don't get them. Beer is pretty good though.
Respose to Kenny (Owner): Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review of the Capital Hop Shop. My review is not uncommon comparing 1-3 star reviews regarding this establishment. I am a local reviewer and gave an honest review. Im glad you have noticed the updated review, but if you haven't noticed the changes in the review I would like to state that my original review was a one star regarding my initial visit. I have visited a couple times since the original review and have received better but mediocre service with decent food and good beer. As a result I increased the rating. This still doesn't negate the fact that some customers are experiencing long wait times, bad service/ rude staff, terrible fries, and cold food. We are telling you what needs to fixed and what needs more attention to detail. I will continue to be a secret diner gladly noting my experience either positive or negative and reflecting that experience here on this review. As for condiments, they are apart of the operating expenses and pushing that expense on the customer is exploitive. Are you going to tell customers to pay for a straw, napkins, or salt and pepper? Kenny I am glad you are in business. Sacramento needs businesses, however, Sacramento also needs owners with decency to write wrongs with customers experience without childish insults and misguided statements. Thank you for naming an IPA after me I'll be sure to enjoy that free...
Read moreSo glad my son and I made time to meet up for a beer with a chance to meet and talk with our ‘new’ planners George and Lisa with Sacramento ‘MeetUP’ for Beer Lovers. That was great guys! Capital Hop Shop had a great tap selection, excellent & ample staff…I loved the dirty/East Coast Cloudy ‘Fieldstone IPA, Destination Unknown’, opaque and cloudy, a very dirty blond beer followed up by a perfect hot soft pretzel! Loved it but I also was stoked to see my favorite, ‘New Helvetia Brewery’ on there too, their ‘Molly’ Red. Right on guys, Brewer Brian! Passion for beer runs deep with all of us and hearing others perspectives is revitalizing, compliments. Also, cool to know is that this “MeetUP” group has a long local history and an immense number of Member Beer Enthusiasts in our Sacramento region. Dually as good a fact is that of the ‘Original Sacramento MeetUP Members’ in the beer arena, the original and initial members to this “MeetUP” group have branched out across the city and region to head-up our beer festivals, breweries, tap room scene…etcetera. Pretty cool! We look forward to some potential ‘large venues’ down-the-road from our long-term members, to continue to nurture the vibrancy to this beer libations group. Till then, party on George, party on Lisa! Thank you,...
Read moreCapitol Hop Shop, the midtown cousin of Capital Tap Room (located in the UV), is the kind of place where you can run into anyone, and where people drop pretences, speak a language of the chill, and where the only thing to complain about are the beers that are only here today and gone tomorrow. The staff are friendly, and disproportionately knowledgeable about the latest tapped kegs, so much so, one is suspicious when the last keg of a given brew blows a day early. Capital Hop Shop hits the road to create craft brew alliances all over the nation amongst select captains of the industry and brings us the sudsy samples from the places we have not the time in our lives to venture. The bar food is above board, you could go just for the food to impress a casual first date or client meet up, or a couple date night out, but why whould you, that's just crazy talk when there's always a beer on the menu to enliven...
