I like to consider myself as an experienced club go-er, not that I'm bragging about how many nights out I've had, but I think I know a good club when I see one. This, however, is not a good club. I've been to Social twice. Once was during a night of club hoppping when a group of us had a party bus and the second was this past weekend for a friend's birthday. Both times I've gone, I felt like a sardine stuffed into an overly full sardine can. It's not that this place is super packed with people (because, trust me, this place isn't that popular), but the dance floor is ridiculously small so it just feels crowded.
Pretty much, if you think of the layout of the club as a big rectangle, around the perimeter are VIP tables and booths. In the middle is a big wrap around bar, and then on the far edges inbetween the bar and the VIP tables is the dance floor. Seriously, my bedroom is bigger than the space provided for dancing. Of all my nights outs, I've never been stepped on so many times before to the point that I have bruises from drunk girls who can't hold it together.
To top it off, even if you're on guestlist for Social, if you don't make it to the register in time, they make you pay $20. This place is not worth $20. Atleast at The Park, if you're on guestlist, despite their cutoff time, you get a discounted rate of only $5 instead of $15.
My Recommendations: if you want to have a great time, a spacious dancefloor to get your groove on (without having to worry about some drunk spilling a drink on you), and a more upscale club experience, hit up The Park Ultra Lounge instead. Straight up, this place just reaffirmed why I love the...
Read moreI bought a booth back in July for my birthday on a Friday night I did have a good experience in the beginning but towards the end I did not enjoy it I actually left early one of the black security guards with a afro and sunglasses kept following me and my guests around the club and he stood next to my booth the whole night and making us uncomfortable and when I brought it up to 2 of the vip hosts they told Me they think he was doing that because of a Alliged altercation that happened even though we already explained nothing happened. The music was not good that night either the vibes have changed a lot sense the last time I l was at this club. if you buy a booth just know you have to have at least 10 people there with you to get in the door . the patio booths are way bigger than the Mainroom booths which is just one couch that could fit maybe 4 people , it was very hot inside the whole night from start to finish and you have to buy more than one bottle bc they have a $350 minimum and the bottles are $200 - $700 the bottle menu they brought me didn’t have nearly as much to pick from vs the original menu I was sent when I booked the booth it was very hot inside of there also this is just me sharing my own...
Read moreThe experience here was extremely disappointing. The drinks took over an hour to arrive, and when they finally did, they were lukewarm. But what really crossed the line was when they kicked a gay guy off the stage—just because he didn’t know that guys weren’t allowed. There was no sign indicating that rule anywhere, which made the situation even more ridiculous, especially for a place in the capital of California. It's completely unacceptable.
On top of that, the security was unnecessarily aggressive. One of the security guards, a Black gentleman with sunglasses in front of the DJ, grabbed me and was very rough. When the DJ apologized for his behavior, he casually mentioned that he’s “usually aggressive,” which just made it even more confusing why someone like that would be allowed to work there.
It was hot, the overall vibe was unpleasant, and after all this, it’s hard to justify spending money here. There are plenty of other wonderful clubs in Sacramento—this one feels homophobic, racist after reading the reviews, and simply isn’t worth the anxiety.
Overall, this place has a lot of room for improvement. Hoping next time will be better, but as of now, I’m not sure...
