Judd’s Store is equal parts nostalgia museum and neighborhood sweet shop: an old-time general store founded in 1911 that now delights locals and visitors with ice cream, vintage candy, soups, sandwiches, and small-town hospitality. I’d wager I t’s one of St. George’s most photographed storefronts and an easy, family-friendly stop when you’re exploring downtown Green Gate Village and Town Square. Walking into Judd’s feels like stepping into a living postcard. The preserved false-front façade, exposed woodwork and display cases, and jars of classic confections create a charming, slow-down vibe. I imagine the building is a historically significant part of St. George’s early commercial fabric and local preservation efforts mean the store keeps its period look while functioning as a modern sweet shop and lunch spot. If you care about authenticity and atmosphere, this place scores high. The menu leans sweet but isn’t one-dimensional. Judd’s is best known for: Ice cream and sundaes — scoops and cones that are consistently praised by visitors. Vintage candy & bottled sodas — an extensive selection of nostalgic sweets and hard-to-find candies. Savory options — surprisingly good soups, sandwiches, and their much-talked-about breadsticks make it a valid lunch stop, not just a dessert pit stop. Multiple reviewers call out the soups and breadsticks as repeatable favorites. Overall, portions are generous and flavors skew classic and comforting rather than trendy

⭐️𝕆𝕃𝔻 𝔽𝔸𝕊ℍ𝕀𝕆ℕ 𝕊𝕋𝕆ℝ𝔼⭐️ •••𝚂𝚝.𝙶𝚎𝚘𝚛𝚐𝚎.𝚄𝚝 ••• 》Today you can find all kinds of old fashioned sodas and root beer. Old and modern candies. Ice cream . Judd’s General Store is the oldest ongoing establishment in St. George. In 1908, pioneer businessman Thomas Judd purchased a home that had been built in 1876, from Joseph Bentley. Just a few years later in 1911, Judd built a store out of adobe bricks in front of the home. The Bentleys had been operating a small store out of the home and Thomas Judd purchased their inventory to open his store. The store sold general merchandise to locals, many of whom were sheep and cattle ranchers. This included dry goods, groceries, hay, grain, and even clothing. After Thomas Judd’s death in 1922, the store passed to his son Joseph and then to his grandson Tom Jr. The store remained in the Judd family until 1982, and was the oldest family-owned business in St. George. Incredibly delightful. The entire town square enticed us to the area, to experience beautiful artwork and bronze sculptures in the park nearby, the historical buildings, the carousel in the park. Walking down the sidewalk after viewing the historic district, which was very pleasant, we came upon Judd's Store at the street front. The entry was inviting so we wandered in not anticipating the historically accurate candy selection we would find inside. Every memorable candy, it seemed, that you had as a child, was there. Our large bags of candy, lollipops, sugar candy tubes, candy wafers were quickly filled while we waited for a lunch order from the sandwich and soda area. Mmm. Big, Grilled cheese sandwich, perfectly toasted, served in a clean, lined basket. An old time favorite too, with an oversized soda to go with it. Everyone that came in, it seemed, left with a bag of candy, and a very big smile.

WOOOOOOOW

As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with a friendly & warm HELLO.

We were just stopping in for a bottle of water & then.......

The store’s decor made me feel as I just stepped back in time — I am a Kid again going to buy my favorite candy & soda pop. Huge selection of vintage candy & soda to choose from.

Then.......

We were hit with an aroma that reminded me of walking into my Grandma’s kitchen — homemade bread sticks, cookies, soups & sandwiches.

We only wanted water — when we asked for the water they gracious offered us a FREE water cup 😍

My Bride & I each had the bread sticks which were served with home made ranch & cheese dipping sauces.

I couldn’t resist & had the chicken chili — words cannot describe the AMAZING taste I was experiencing. Each spoonful contained lots of chicken & white beans.

We give them One Million STARS ⭐️

Extremely Clean Business

We will...
