CAVA — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

Order from this place at least once a week. Food is great but customer service is rude. I called to order over the phone for the first time as normally I order through an app or online. I normally do large group orders for lunch as everyone seems to really enjoy the food. A young man answered who had in attitude from the beginning and annoyed tone as if I was the 100th person with such an outlandish request said it is against their policy to take orders over the phone (which was unknown to me until now.) I said that was a shame as I can't currently use a card online (only have cash, wallet stolen.) He was further annoyed and based on his attitude I told him he lost a customer for life. He said "he didn't care" and hung up on me. I called back to get a name and a women answered. I asked what the name of the man working was and she stopped responding to me, while I heard the man talking poorly about me in the background and then she hung up on me as well. This was 7pm 9/19/23. I really think this place should get new staff as it does not seem to be just one bad egg. I can guarantee I will not be recommending this place based on my experience. If you are going to have a policy that limits to online orders, which is not typical, they should be at least well versed on how to inform their customers. I respect a business having rights to make their own...

The food here is always great for the price. The reason for the one star is because of the staff. I work in the service industry myself and man if i give service like that id expect to be fired. I don't know if its because i came in an hour before close and everyone is tired from the day, but the employees making your bowls don't even bother to pay any attention to the customers. I had ordered my bowl and was soo hungry ready to dig in. They asked me for my protein and my base and as soon as i got to the final topings it took atleast an extra 5 minutes to get my bowl to the end. Mind you my girlfriend was i front of me waiting so we can pay together. The employees doing my bowl started talking to each other about some drama. Right infront of me as i am sitting there waiting on them to put my topings so i can pay for the food and eat. Finnally my bowl was finished. Just for the cashier to walk away and go talk to the person in the kitchen about something for another 5 minutes. They were laughing cheering having a good time and nobody to cash me out so i can go eat. Again food is amazing but the staff idk where you guys get these guys from ive never witnessed anything like that. It looked like it was a skit on tv or something. I really could not understand how as an employee you could allow yourself to be so careless infront...

I've passed by here a few times and always wanted to try it. Last night my husband and I finally decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! It might be my new favorite quick service restaurant. The inside isn't fancy, but the food is delicious! We both got rice and lentils to start. I got chicken and mixed vegetables, and my husband got roasted lamb and lamb meatballs. He must have really liked them because they were gone before I could even ask for a bite! You can get up to three "dips" that are scooped into your bowl. I got hummus and roasted eggplant. My husband got hummus, tzatziki, and an angry red dip (can't remember what they said it was called). The angry red dip lived up to its look and was very spicy. I also got a falafel (you can get extras for $1 each). It was delicious. Even sitting in the bowl and covered for the drive home it was still crispy. Everything had so much flavor. The pita bread was really good. I loved the extra salt on it. I can't wait to go back. Oh, and don't sleep on the drinks. The strawberry citrus juice and the cucumber mint drink are both yummy and combined they are even better!!! The staff are all friendly and nice.
