Love this place and bands that play here, but getting drinks here is inconsistent with the prices and sizes. I got a margarita corazón at the bar for $7.48 in a plastic 16 ounce cup and a ketel one vodka in 8 ounce plastic cup for $10. Then I sat down and ordered another margarita with one of the beautiful waitresses, and the price was $11.48 for an 8oz glass. I asked why was there a price difference and why is the cup smaller? She said I must’ve ordered at happy hour… I just ordered a drink 15 mins prior. Maybe there’s a price difference after 10:45PM? But she said she doesn’t know why the charge was different. Not her fault, but it definitely was weird that I requested the same drink and got a smaller cup and charged $4 more. I’ll buy from the bar from here on out.

My husband and I are natives to the area and have frequented Ruby’s multiple times over the years and love the atmosphere and hospitality. This past thanksgiving eve we met friends at Ruby’s for a cigar, and decided to try a slightly more complicated version of our regular drink, we were lucky enough to have Allie as our bartender. Fast forward a week later, and she still remembered our new complicated drinks we ordered just one week before. I highly recommend coming here to enjoy drink’s along side killer live music. If you’re lucky, Allie is bartending

I go there regularly on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. The band is awesome. Love the open mic portion as well. The bartenders make a sound old fashion. If you want to enjoy a live band and open mic, then check them out. They even make me mocktails I equally love when I decide to randomly go on hiatus from drinking. Edit: I stopped in on a 3rd Monday for just as amazing of a show. MacKenzie makes the best Old Fashioned and mocktails for me! Plus, if Aunti Mama's is outside, you can eat well. 💙

How is it that multiple women are claiming having been physically assaulted by the staff, there are police reports dealing with the staff drugging people at the bar, and the bar is ripping off people's debit cards but the owner is completely unwilling to acknowledge it. The security staff at Ruby's is dangerous.

By the way I'm not looking for an offensive and disingenuous response from the owner. I would like the owner to seriously consider firing and rehiring a legitimate security staff instead of the dangerous men he has had employed for over 10 years.

They are not only extremely high and rude but several women and it looks like men too have reported being assaulted by the staff.

A security staff is supposed to make a venue safe, not more dangerous. From what I understand the owner is from Eastern Europe and worked very very hard to have a venue to have members of a security staff ruin his business reputation.

I would ask the owner to please seriously consider firing the security staff that's been reported to law enforcement more than once for violating people. That includes myself.

Let me be specific.

Two male members of the security staff at Ruby's stole my car keys and tried to refuse to give them back to me even the following day. They had no reason to take my keys. They pretended like they didn't have them until I threatened to contact the police and one of them walked back grabbed my keys and handed them to me. I also had a substantial amount of money go missing from my purse. Two of the staff members were on me all night and I didn't feel right after not keeping an eye on my water. I don't drink alcohol so there is no way I could have been messed up any other way.

I'm asking the owner to take this seriously because it's happened to more than one person. Fire those dudes and hire a legitimate security staff. They also run the bar earlier in the night and have a terrible reputation for bullying people.

It's not at the caliber of the musicians performing at Ruby's.

I would prefer not to be called a liar when I'm reporting something that's technically criminal. Thank you Greg.

Cara

Edit to respond to whoever responded to me: it is not actually my responsibility to provide you with evidence of something that happened several years ago.

This isn't a courtroom.

I doubt this is Greg writing to me because Greg is a very respectful person. It is not a victim's responsibility to provide evidence for you that is clearly presented in the way that people are reviewing your business repeatedly.

You are not taking me seriously.

I would suggest taking on a more respectful tone toward women who have been targeted through your bar for the purpose of professionalism.

Your aggressive tone is unacceptable. There is not a need to be defensive when I'm providing you with helpful information about who did this.

I am not lying.

It would be one thing if it was only one person saying this happened, but all you have to do to see multiple accounts of people accusing your security staff of violating them or robbing them is read your reviews.

I worked in hospitality for 20 years.

The incident that I'm referring to actually hit the papers about 6 years ago and is not something I'm making up.

On behalf of the woman who was victimized after she was drugged at your bar when she worked there as a cocktail waitress and on behalf of the entire jazz scene who knows her personally I apologize that such disrespectful people are now working at Ruby's and responding to reviews bringing this into the light.

For women witnessing this person gaslighting me after I was drugged at a bar, something that happens all the time in Florida, I would suggest not going to Ruby's since if you report it they are not going to take you seriously and they are not going to look at their security staff that's being repeatedly reported by guests.

Why would more than one person make something up?

How degrading.

It's the head of security with the lazy eye. That's who did it.

The person messaging me is not getting a private...

I love rubys elixir. I’ve been numerous times and always enjoy the live music and the atmosphere. However I unfortunately had an unpleasant experience last night )December 9th) around 10 pm. My friend and I were excited to listen to Josh Magwood Band and have a drink. I have an autoimmune disease and I cannot have gluten aka wheat. There are some liquors that include malts and sometimes flavorings that contain gluten. I asked the bartender with dark hair and bangs if a certain vodka was gluten-free. In response she said with an attitude “don’t you know all liquors are gluten-free”. I told her that’s not true and that I can’t have gluten. She walked away and asked a coworker if it was gluten-free. They were laughing. She walked back over to me and said “you’re gonna have to google it” once again with an attitude. I told her I already was. It confirmed that it is gluten-free. I told her this and she threw up her arms and in a condescending tone she said “that’s what I said!”. I told my friend I no longer wanted to be served by her and we were so upset about the experience we left. Her attitude and the way she belittled me was unexplainable. What if she gave the wrong information to someone and they needed up ingesting gluten and could...

I’ve been coming to this bar for years, enjoying the live music and the relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, after my most recent visit, I will never be returning. Within 10 minutes of being there, while listening to the band, I was approached by security who grabbed me by the arm and pulled me outside. They accused me of stealing purses, even though I wasn’t carrying anything remotely suspicious. After checking me for any “theft items” and letting the police know that I was good, they let me back in, but the damage was already done.

I’ve never been in trouble with the law and have always felt welcome in this place—until now. It’s incredibly disheartening to experience what I can only describe as racial profiling. This used to be a spot I would recommend, but no more. It’s clear that the bar is facing issues, possibly due to vandalism or other problems, and that’s likely why they’re now profiling customers.

It’s a shame because I genuinely enjoyed coming here before, but I can’t risk having such an embarrassing and unjust experience again. I won’t be back, and I would caution others to be aware of how you...
