Achilles Coffee Roasters Gaslamp — Restaurant in San Diego

Thank goodness the Park 12 location actually has good service, because if this had been my first experience at Achilles Coffee Roasters then I would have never come back. Suggestion: Go to the Park 12 location, not this one.

Looking at other recent reviews, it seems like the service is an ongoing unaddressed issue. I also had a terrible experience at this location. The staff were so rude. When I came, I was literally the ONLY customer and I wanted to be in and out because I already knew what I wanted to order, but the three staff there just looked at me, literally made eye contact with me, didn't say a word to acknowledge me, and then continued with the conversation they were having before I arrived. I never get mad at service workers because I work in customer service myself, but I stood there at least 3 minutes waiting for them to acknowledge me and take my order and I was absolutely dumbfounded and pissed about their complete lack of professionalism. It says a lot that not one, not two, but all three staff members there lacked any customer service skills. The cashier was doing nothing but doing nothing was apparently more important than acknowledging a customer?? One person was sweeping the store, looked at me, and continued sweeping uncomfortably close to me like I wasn't even a person. The third staff person poked their head out of the kitchen, looked at me, saw that I hadn't been acknowledged or served, and simply went back into the kitchen without a word. Crazy. I'll never go back to this location and I strongly recommend going to the Park 12 location instead, where the staff not only have basic customer service skills but are actually friendly, AND they serve customers far more quickly even when they're busier. If this is how they treat all customers, then it's not hard to imagine why this location...

I have never experienced such rude service from a staff at any coffee shop or cafe in my life. I work/ live blocks away and was so happy to find a good spot close by. The cashier girl was cold and rude and refused to give me any suggestions when I just came in excited to inquire about the menu. She was inpatient and rude to me and it immediately made me uncomfortable and confused. Then the girl who handed me my coffee made another weird comment that made no sense about the way I was dressed after the gym. I really don't appreciate it. I don't usually even write reviews but this really stuck with me and made me want to share. This establishment would be better off without people like that working there. Summary: I had a mediocre flat white and a great large latte (which was the opposite of what I’d expect from a good coffee shop)

What happened: I had an odd experience as someone who likes third wave coffee I chose a flat white (8oz) which is usually very coffee focused, shows off the espresso (usually two shots espresso in 8oz cup) My wife likes a large warm drink as we walk so she ordered a large latte (16oz of usually coffee flavoured milk)

My flat white was weak, and her 16 oz latte was super delicious good strong espresso taste. Remember the flat white is 8oz total and the latte is 16oz, and it was stronger, meaning it probably had more then 2x the shots) all in all I’ll be back but won’t pay 4.25 for a weak flat white.
